URBANDALE, Iowa -- Senator Ted Cruz's leading Iowa supporters say his get-out-the-vote operation is the best they have seen for a presidential campaign here. He had better hope they are right.
With his monthlong lead in the polls erased, Mr. Cruz's hopes for pulling out a much-needed victory over Donald J. Trump in the Iowa caucuses on Monday now rest in the hands of thousands of campaign workers and supporters who are spending this weekend telephoning, emailing and knocking on the doors of likely caucusgoers.
Mr. Cruz's campaign boasts a chairman or chairwoman for each of Iowa's 99 counties, captains in 1,537 of the state's 1,681 precincts, and 10,000 people from this state and beyond who have volunteered to help in the final push.
But it is precisely whom all those Cruz backers are striving to reach, and reach again, that illustrates the differing approaches and expectations of the Cruz and Trump campaigns.
As 46 volunteers sat making calls and eating popcorn in Mr. Cruz's office-park headquarters in suburban Des Moines around lunchtime on Thursday, Bryan English, Mr. Cruz's state director, described the Iowans they were targeting....

The old gray lady sounds nervous.
I agree with Falwell Jr.- Trump is the only electable R.

Bwahaha!
All likely Trump voters are getting a shaming letter. :-)
I disagree, but we shall see.
What do Wolfman Jack, Tammy Faye Bakker and Heidi Cruz all have in common?
I have no idea...I see no connection at all with the 3....what is the connection.
What really sealed it for me was when Businessman deal maker Trump who also owns Goldman Sachs stock

While promoting a misrepresentarion of an opponents previous campaign loan as sinister and suspicious from the same source he, Trump, has investments in.
Here he sides with the GOPES, to gets endorsements from the establishment Corn King cronys and even advocates expanded mandated Ethanol. Because he thinks dumping this government mandated junk inro your gas tank will help him carry IOWA . Which also begs the question of Just how heavily invested is he in Ethanol ?
Apparently those prefering a candidate who marches away from key conservative principles including tax supports and more government mandates and subsides especially for a product like enthanol which is a boon doggle means nothing to them.
Well it does to me....and it should to them.
Trump had identified precinct captains for each precinct, all 1681, by thanksgiving.
They then started work on alternates and training.
I don’t know how this information continually gets ignored.
I guess since its old news, it’s forgotten.
No, his hope now rests with the voters.
“I have no idea...I see no connection at all with the 3....what is the connection.”
In the late 60s when Wolfman broadcast from Mexico all over the Southwest, he would sell stuff over the air, and his dialogue went:
“just send five dollars, cash, check or money order to .....”
Tammy Faye Bakker of evangelical television decades back, with her husband, raised money on television,
And if paying attention lately Heidi and Ted had a little sing, song about “five dollar, ten dollars, twenty dollars...”
Here's Cruz's most famous targeted approach mailers:

If you’d have bothered to look beyond your cut n paste from Trump’s latest Twitter tantrum, you’d find the RNC does similar ads and the Iowa GOP did the same type of mailers in 2014. More phony outrage from Ducking Donald who can’t run on his own merit.

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said Saturday that the piece was âa standard mailer that folks at the Iowa Republican Party and other get-out-the-vote groups have used to help motivate low-propensity voters.â
