There have been some high-profile lies this election season. The most recent that comes to mind is the story about the thousands of Muslims that were supposedly having tailgate-style parties celebrating after 9/11. In the book, you say, essentially, we’re OK with lies. Can you walk me through why we’re built not only for being deceptive, but also tolerating deception?
Trump’s supporters don’t particularly care whether he’s lying or not. Our brain doesn’t really care—I know that’s appalling. Our default position is we simply want to be right.
This is why our brain rationalizes our actions even when they’re at variance with our principles—that’s what cognitive dissonance is all about. So Trump supporters—when they hear Donald Trump say thousands of Muslims celebrated 9/11, and that turns out to be a lie, that obviously creates a conflict. Our brain tries to get out of these types of conflict in any way it can. One of the standard ways is to discredit the messenger—we say the mainstream media is full of it, for example. That’s true for Hillary Clinton supporters and true for Donald Trump supporters. All of us, Republicans, Democrats, we are all afflicted with this inclination to believe what we believe, and it doesn’t matter what the facts say. It took 11 months before public opinion started going against Nixon during Watergate.

The facts he is needed appear weekly...this week Paul Ryan’s budget. Many of us voted for Romney/Ryan...pretty clear now we made a mistake. Bottom line, you cannot trust the politicians...this week again proved they lie to us weekly. We need a non-politician. We are Hard Wired against a lying government. We are DONE WITH IT...we need no more weekly proof. We want to clean house and and put these criminals and liars in jail. Trump is the only choice on the political horizon that can do it.

Again, this is a problem with your reading ability. You read things that aren’t there and don’t understand things you read.
The part of the PUBLIC conversation I have seen, has been you looking for ways to insult people and making no constructive point about anything.
One of your lines of insult, ironically, is them not making themselves clear or being intelligible. The others seem to be trying to claim an intellectual high ground based on vacant flippancy and making a big deal about finding common grammatical errors. I have no idea what the original argument was about, but its clear you not only lost it, but have become unhinged.
Go have a PRIVATE conversation if you are so worried about being misunderstood...but sadly for you its too late. You are already well understood.
The original argument started when he misread what I posted, Because he has a personal problem with me over “Lesser Evil voting” and Mitt Romney, he regularly devolves threads with increasingly off topic and ranting babble.
I’d have to be in error to correct. But you’d do everyone a favor by ignoring me like you tell others to do.
That was a well written post, I really appreciate that because it is uncommon with your ilk. It was an excellent, but obvious, attempt at projection.
