If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

Ted’s numbers are up, and he is on track to a resounding victory.
.
Can it be that Cruz clearly sees the reality of Trump, and knows what is best?

Good old VandeJoik!
.
12%-14% is not a winning percentage. Its not even a contender. Its a distant 2nd or 3rd. With Rubio and Carson still in it he has nowhere to go for votes. The numbers just are not there.
Trump
Trump totally!
Cruz
Trump has said he isn’t interested in VP, you fool.
TED CRUZ all the way. It’s not even a contest. Trump’s rhetoric is just that...rhetoric. If there was a general consensus that he actually believed the stuff he was saying, he would have gone over 50% a long time ago. But that’s the problem with Trump. Many people don’t trust him because he’s done NOTHING to earn that trust, but has a whole history of actions/statements to make one question his motives. My opinion (and I’m definitely not alone in this) is that Trump is saying what he thinks the base wants to hear and has no connection to any of these issues whatsoever. He just wants the power. Because it’s all about Trump 24/7 365. And the GOPe knows this. They don’t fear Trump because they think he’s a conservative, they fear Trump because he’s a threat to their power. But TrumpE will be just as unlistening as the GOPE if it ever sees the light of day.
Hopefully this will shake out when Cruz wins IA and finishes 2nd in New Hampshire. Cruz will then win SC and after the later debates where he and Trump have to confront each other on obvious policy differences due to less people on the stage and the early results, Cruz will run away with the SEC Primaries because Trump’s easy layup tactics that have worked on Jebbers, Kaisich, Paul, and Rubio won’t work on Ted.
The only thing that worries me is what happens when Cruz picks his VP. Following the Reagan model, Cruz will probably select an Establishment type to unify the GOP factions just like when Reagan picked the Sen from PA and Bush Sr. My guess is that he would pick Rubio. As a ticket, that would obliterate the Democrats in the Electoral College. But I already know people will try to label him a sellout when he does so. Makes one wonder if Reagan could survive in 1980 if the Internet had existed.
The Cabinet:
Cruz - POTUS
Rubio - VP
Gingrich - Sec of State
Gohmert - Sec of Defense
Tancredo - Sec of Homeland Security
Jindal - Sec Health & Human Services
Joe Manchin - Sec of Entergy (throws a bone to a Democrat that is pro-Energy and pro-Keystone in an attempt to make the seat a possible GOP pick-up in the future)
And whatever else.
Trump
Trump and Cruz...and lets see for the Dems, I want Sanders... Think what the results would be...
Trump would look at the UN building, tell Cruz to defund the UN and he would make the building into something better, a homeless shelter.

I sent Cruz a fair amount of money from before the start of his campaign and encouraged him to run. He still cannot get out of the cellar. I send Trump nothing, and am thoroughly convinced he will do what he says... along with 30-40 percent of all other conservatives. He doesn’t send me “please give me money” letters every week either.
I would say TRUMP ALONE has led the discussion on EVERY SINGLE pertinent item that matters to me and thus far has come out on top. Cruz is clearly good enough for VP but is not ready to lead. He does not inspire the 30-40 percent base of the party. He does not have the necessary rhetoric or attitude to fire up this nation. Doesn’t mean he is not good. Just not good enough to inspire or represent me at this point.
If ted were the nominee... i would support him in the general. He doesn’t have the juice right now to get the base AS fired up as Trump...
I hope you are kidding...
Cruz
Cruz! I could vote for Trump, but we’d LOSE big at the Supreme Court, people. Just remember that. His stated picks were literally the choices that Obama would make. It’s been a while, so I don’t recall the names but they are BOTH die-hard liberals. We might as well finish shredding the Constitution ourselves if we are going to be that lackadaisical about it. Elections have consequences. 1 more liberal or outright Marxist judge and it will not matter what laws a good president or Congress might pass.
Cruz!
SweetiePalm scores it Trump/ Cruz.
