With Ben Carson still on his tail, Donald Trump nonetheless holds his lead in Iowa, while opening up commanding leads in New Hampshire and South Carolina. According to a new poll out from CBS News/YouGov, Trump leads Carson 40-12 in New Hampshire, 36-21 in South Carolina, and 29-25 in Iowa.
Ted Cruz comes in third in Iowa and South Carolina with 10 and 6 percent, and John Kasich comes third in New Hampshire with 9 percent of the vote, in a poll of likely Republican primary votes.
In perhaps a telling sign of why Trump, who leads the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, and Carson are doing so well, when asked what's most important in a candidate, voters most frequently responded that it was "their experience getting things done in business and the private sector." This answer registered 36 percent, 39 percent, and 38 percent support in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, respectively.
Further, it outpaced answers such as "they are a true conservative" and "their experience getting things done in policy and politics." It also ranked higher than "they can defeat the Democratic nominee."
Candidates considered thoroughbreds before the primary season continue to languish in this new poll. Rand Paul registers 6 percent in New Hampshire, tied with Jeb Bush.
Marco Rubio is currently fourth in Iowa at 6 percent, and Scott Walker continues his tumble, losing front-runner status in Iowa, the lynch-pin of his campaign, and registering 3 percent support in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Carson recently made statements coming out for amnesty and sounding like a sissy. I expect that should temper his strength. Also, it is only in Iowa that Carson comes so close to Trump.
Now that’s good news! I think Trump is going to appeal to a lot of Reagan Democrats. For the same reason your relatives were drawn to Trump (immigration), I think that Carson is going to see a decline in his poll numbers.
I hope that during the debate, Carson’s view that deportation is immoral can be exposed while there is a huge audience.
I think we’ll be saying the same in six months.
Nice picture of the Three Amigos, AMNESTY LOVERS ALL.

When He second guessed the police officer in Ferguson on Friday, he lost my support. I thought he would be above race baiting, but that’s what it sounded like to me. He was fanning the flames after it all died down.
He was actually my second choice after Trump, but I did consider throwing all my support to Carson. I gave him money since the Donald didn’t need it. I think Carson is also going to lose some support for attacking Trump on his faith. It just sounded pompous to be putting down Trump on his faith. He was talking about Trump’s lack of humility, (which everyone already knows) and Carson came off as lacking humility instead.
I was talking about Ben Carson losing my support, not Trump.
Me too.
Go Trump.
how about Cruz for VP?
Carson is going to crash and burn hard with his amnesty crap. Nice guy, doesn’t belong in politics.
>> This isn’t going like everyone thought it would six months ago, is it?
Ha ha! Nope. This pent-up anti-establishment anger bursting the dam is exciting to witness!
Interesting analysis. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
