GREENVILLE, S.C.As Donald Trump studied the crosstabs of a recent poll, his favorite hobby since he started leading in all of them, he was pleased, he said, to see that GOP primary voters perceive him as better equipped than his rivals to handle the economy, national security and even social issues. But one nugget in the survey nagged at the New York billionaire.
The only thing I did badly on was: Is he a nice person? I was last in terms of niceness, he said.
Campaigning deep in the Bible Belt yesterday, the businessman spun this as an asset, not a liability. Indeed, much of Trumps strength derives from his refusal to play nice with the GOP establishment. Americans feel angry and betrayed by their elites, and hes channeling it.
Trump frames the GOP choice as niceness vs. competency. Were tired of the nice, he said. We dont need the nice. We need competent. (His opponents, of course, would quibble that hes also competent to govern.) Using some impressive verbal jujitsu, Trump also sought to recast another of his perceived liabilities his lack of message discipline as a reason to vote for him. We need some unpredictability, he said. Were so predictable. Were like bad checkers players!
Theres a breathtakingly large opening for an outsider candidate like Trump in South Carolina, the first state to vote in the South....

Niceness doesn’t mean ka-ka when it comes to Russia, China, and Iran. Go get ‘em, Trump.... LOL
He doesn’t even need to make his own campaign ad spots. Here he has Jimmy Kimmel making one for him. It’s pretty good!

Not to worry Donald... America has already done that and we are suffering the results.
Seems we've already done that - twice.
Time for an American who wants to make America great again.
If I hadn’t already made up my mind, that ad would bring me over to vote for Donald Trump. Seriously.
Right? It was well done and the fact that Trump doesn’t even have to produce ads just cracks me up.
We’ve had Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Carter, Clinton and 0bama.
The bar for being a jerk is set pretty high.
"During his high-school years at New York Military Academy, a boarding school for boys 60 miles north of Manhattan, he stood out as an athlete, pitching for the baseball team and playing tight end on the football team.
Among his duties was storing and maintaining the M1 rifles for the cadets on his dorm floor. He was so meticulous about cleanliness that one former roommate remembers him folding his underwear into squares and stacking them neatly on the shelf."
OMG! The Man folded his Underwear. THAT’S IT, I am SOOOOOO not voting for that. /s
Must be this idjit never spent a day in the Military.
We've already had one -- Obama -- not to mention a rapist -- Clinton -- an anti-Semitic bungler -- Carter -- a ballot-box-stuffing war monger -- LBJ -- an adulterous glib do-nothing -- JFK -- a wannabee dictator -- Wilson and FDR...
Partisan Media Shill Alert!
Heh... my dad (WWII) folded his underwear. After my mom died, I went home to stay with him for several weeks. One day, I was helping him with laundry. We were both so heartbroken. When I saw him folding his underwear and patting it down I started crying but he didn’t notice.
We already did that. Elected Obama twice. He, along with those who elected him are big time jerks.
That’s a real good article. It brings out the consistency in the qualities Trump has developed through life. It’s going to be SO EXCELLENT to have a problem-solver with a sense of humor in the White House!
