FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., -- In an exclusive interview with FTMDaily's (http://ftmdaily.com/) Jerry Robinson, former Congressman Ron Paul discusses some of his core values as an American and as a human being. "On Faith and Family: A Conversation With Dr. Ron Paul" provides compelling insight on the problems facing the nation today, as well as reflections on Paul's three presidential campaigns.
Paul explained that war and strong-arm diplomacy, both part of America's compulsion to police the world, are fundamentally unsound policies. Most disturbingly, he said, is that a vocal minority of the Christian Evangelical community is strongly in favor of such foreign policy stances and considers die-hard support of Israel, for instance, to be a litmus test for any political candidate. Asked why some Evangelicals have gone down a path of militarism, Paul does not even hazard a guess.
"It's probably been going on for a hundred years or so, that there's been a segment of the Christian faith that endorses this violence," remarked Paul. "It's one of the discouraging things for me because it's, to me, so inconsistent. It doesn't even make any sense to me. I was taught that the New Testament was a 'new' testament, and that we didn't have sacrifices and other things of the Old Testament. My understanding is that Jesus was the Prince of Peace, and that you weren't out looking for war."(continued)

Paul must have misread the Bible. There is plenty of justification for violence to overcome evil.
Just shut up Ron. You embarrass those of us who voted for your kid.
Jesus said, “I didn’t come to bring peace, “. Would Paul have let the Nazis take over Europe?
Then He said unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it and likewise his provision bag; and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. ~Luke 22:36
He would have let the Kaiser take over Europe too (the Second Reich, never mind the Third).
Those preachers cannot be any more wrong. And RP, useful idiot to the RATs.
Like 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
What does Ron Paul think Jesus meant for his disciples to DO with those swords, crack walnuts?
If a Christian was walking down the street and encountered an evil person about to kill an innocent person, and his only option is to kill the evil one, it is his duty to do that.
Jesus said “he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword”. In order for someone to “die by the sword”, they have to be killed by someone. To live by the sword means to kill innocents (think Saddam Hussein). To die by the sword means to be killed for your evil (think Saddam Hussein being killed for his crimes). There’s a difference.
That is such a libtard pov.
Uh, LUKE, perhaps.
Sorry about that.
Many colonials believed that the American Revolution was against Christian teachings:
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. - Romans 13:1-3
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. - Hebrews 13:17
Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. - I Peter 2:13-14
Remember these passages were written to Christians living under the yoke of Roman occupation.
So these types of questions require a true commitment to study, understand, and follow what the bible actually teaches.
I personally believe that Americans should only be placed in harm’s way when it is clearly necessary for US long term security. I would not engage in war for economic benefit.
And I feel no requirement to somehow rebuild or democratize the offending party. Punish US enemies, reward her friends. True statesmanship in a nutshell. And perfectly compatible with my understanding of Scripture.
We don’t live in a theocracy, and Jesus told us to “render unto Caesar what is Caesars” and we are told in the New Testament that we are to view ourselves as travelers in a foreign land.
The Church does not run the country, rather, the country is to be run by those best at providing a stable environment where people can engage in commerce and raise their families. We can and should pray for our leaders, but to be honest Christianity is uniquely adapted to function in varying political systems, and that is because of the example provided by Jesus Christ Our Lord.
I used to have hopes for Paul the Younger. But no more. He sounds as poisonous as his Daddy Very sad, they had some other ideas that are positive but we desperately need someone that’s credible on defense and foreign policy. Especially if we survive 8 years of Obama
yes, yes he would, because he is moronic to believe they would have stopped there, just as he believes if we leave the muslins alone they won't attack us here in America. Once a crazy maroon, always a crazy maroon!
“My understanding is that Jesus was the Prince of Peace, and that you weren’t out looking for war.”
We’re not out there looking for wars, Ron. We just don’t run and hide when people are trying to kill us, like you and your ilk would have us do.
Actually, the swords were part of a fulfillment of prophecy, that was their purpose.
