Ive been approached several times today by doubters who advance arguments as to why Sarah Palin cannot win the nomination, or if she secures it, why she cant defeat Barack Obama.
All of the theories Ive had pitched in my direction today share a couple common faults, and its important to point them out here. The most common reason Ive heard today is the belief that the Media will destroy her. Thats silly. Is there a single Republican, never mind conservative, who the media will not seek to destroy to defend their darling, Barack Obama?
Anybody who watched the media in action after McCains nomination in 2008 should by now be thoroughly disabused of that shoddy notion. The Lame-Stream Media has been trying for three years running to destroy Sarah Palin, and there is no chance, having failed thus far, that they will improve results on their limited success.
The problem is that if the media narrative about a person is based on lies, in the longer run, those lies lose effectiveness as people learn the truth from other sources, and worse yet, the lies come back to haunt their purveyors because once the audience, having originally believed them, in the second instance realizes theyve been scammed, they will thereafter no longer be inclined to believe another pronouncement given voice by that source.
The second most common flaw in the arguments Ive been hearing and reading today is the dubious assumption that shes an intellectual lightweight. Truthfully, there couldnt be a more ridiculous claim upon which to base ones criticisms, and yet this is the default argument of those who wish to suggest that Sarah Palin isnt qualified.
Its the constant harangue of the elite media types, and it has been a failure repeatedly. They tried to paint a similar picture of Ronald Reagan, and in fact, every Republican in my memory.
Its a claim that falls on deaf ears in most quarters, because in the final analysis, its simply not believable given all she has already accompished. Having covered what critics have said, let me move on to my own list of reasons in opposition to these notions.
I firmly believe that Sarah Palin will run, win the nomination, and ultimately the Presidency.
You can post that a thousand times, and it will be countered and debunked a thousand times in return.
There is no point in my explaining the countervailing view for the umpteenth time. You've heard it umpteen times already, so what are we really doing? The same old dance?
Forget it. Time is short, and Palin is coming.
iow...you can’t. That’s ok, it was expected.
It's an ABC News piece about KKK Founder, Nathan Bedford.
Is this guy a hero of yours? How positively revolting.

No wonder you have no shame or sense of honor. All makes sense now. "Buh-bye..."
8^D
Don't be like that. I told you. We've been doing the same dance for two and a half years now. We've practically worn the floorboards through, repeating the same old dance steps over and over and over again.
What's the point of me refuting a talking point for the umpteenth time, which you and others have posted umpteen times? Are you getting this?
If you just want to come in here and have the same old brawl every day of the week, then you're on some sort of mission (official, or otherwise).
As I said, time is short, and Sarah is coming. Time for me to roll up my sleeves and help her get elected.
Later.
You are confusing your enthusiasm with the observable reality out there. Re-read # 20. So she is coming. Fine, but what does that have to do with the image of her that MSM has implanted in the general public’s minds?
Cat, you’re not hearing me. We’ve gone round and round a thousand times on every anti-Palin talking point imaginable. I have not changed my opinion, and neither have you, so what’s the point?
I and others have already addressed your particular talking point thousands upon thousands of times on this website. You’re here every day. You’ve read the countervailing view a thousand times, so why on earth are you posing the question again?
Do you really think you might finally get a different answer if you ask it for the thousand and oneth time???
Come on....
I gotta go.
Well said.
One should remember that Obama made his start and much of his rise in politics not by selling his program, but by destroying his opponents. That is what he was doing to Gov. Palin. To some it appears that resigning the governorship is the same as capitulating to the liberal machine, however, the immediate effect was to stop completely the false ethics accusations against her. Since there was no cost for false accusations, it is quite clear that had she stayed in office, the rate of these accusations would have increased and she likely would have been forced from office in poverty. While most likely not the route she would have chosen, her resignation has made her political influence on the national scene possible.
I read all of your posts on this thread and respect your opinion always. But this time I must disagree with you. IMO the difference is the times in which the election takes place.
RWR had many of the same problems that Sarah has without benefit of the internet or alternate media sources. 1980 was the first election in which I was eligible to vote and thanks to my Dad, I voted for Reagan. It was so exciting leaving my evening class and anticipating a long night of nail biting election returns. After all NBC,CBS, and ABC told me that was how it would happen. So imagine my shock to turn on the car radio and hear Carter’s concession speech and to tell you the truth he sounded even more shocked than I was.
I don’t need to tell you how grim those days of 1978-80 seemed. Even youth could not shield me from the idiocy of Carter and the results of his poor decisions that the nation had to shoulder. IMO people were not so willing to give their vote away to empty headed do gooder type campaigning.
1992,1996 and to some degree 2008 were years when things were at least ok and in the case of 1992 and 2008 Republicans were punished (”no new taxes” and well “W” who as you pointed out refused to defend himself). Today things are not OK in way shape or form and despite MSM best efforts, it cannot be pinned on any Republican living or dead.
I honestly believe that Sarah can win over VA, FL, PA and either OH or NC (maybe both). Remember there are a lot of people like you (and my dad) who worry about how electable she is .... the other side of the coin is how detestable obama is.
We will hear that for the next year if she gets the nod. Oh there will be excuses but excuses are for losers and American's don't like quitters. Some will say oh it was a brilliant political move will it doesn't look nor sell like it was brilliant, she quit.
Before the flames, if she gets the nod I will support with time and money to get her elected.
Thank you for your kind words. And please feel free to use my posts as you see fit.
if that is all they have, they are bringing a plastic knife to a gunfight. GAME ON!
“I firmly believe that Sarah Palin will run, win the nomination, and ultimately the Presidency.”
I firmly believe that I don’t know what is going to happen.
Now what I “want” to happen is that a real social/fiscal conservative (NOT a moderate) will get the GOP nomination and stop Romney. Then I also “want” that person to win the general election and carry in a big change in both the Senate and House so that trully conservative members of the GOP will dominate congress and the oval office. I also “want” that they don’t ever forget what they represent.
Now is the best person to do this Sarah Palin? I do not know. However, I lean towards saying yes. I think she would be better than Perry and I think she would be even better if Bachmann was her VP running mate.
Also, I cannot believe that the day has come that this man (me) would find two women to be the best choices for POTUS. However, we live in “interesting” times.
I am not arguing for Perry, just for the fact that he represents the conservative viewpoint with Palin and will split the conservative vote between them.
That isn't too complex for you is it?
.
Schizophrenia is tough!
You Palin supporters are living in a fantasy world.
Thanks Windflier.
I’m a bit more optimistic, having listened to the bitterness and stupidity level of certain family members rise over this past weekend.
I am telling you a political reality that you just don't want to deal with.
Cheers.
>> “Not in the primaries she wont, she will split the vote with Perry and Romney will sneak in.” <<
Then tell Perry to drop out so that the only real Christian in the bunch can get elected.
Coulda just stayed here...
