Why Sarah Palin is Running for President
Yahoo! News / Associated Content ^ | June 30, 2011 | Mark Whittington

Posted on 06/30/2011 3:25:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In the wake of the official premiere in Pella, Iowa, of her biographical film "The Undefeated," former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is still keeping people guessing. "Will she or won't she?" Run for president, that is.

The fact that the question is even asked should contain within it an answer. But to further elaborate, Nicole Coulter (no relation to Ann_Coulter) offers "Six Clues Palin is Running for President."

The clues are: "1 -- For what reason would Mrs. Palin insert herself into the 2010 election cycle? Why go out of her way to 'endorse' local candidates all over the United States? And mostly TEA Party and grassroots conservative candidates?

"2 -- For what reason would Mrs. Palin take her entire family on a 'bus tour' of historic sites around the United States? The key here is the BUS. If she wanted to tour these sites, she could easily do it in her family vehicle. Why stir up all the attendant media coverage?

"3 -- For what possible reason would Mrs. Palin need a movie about her political career? Remember, she had her staff approach Mr. Bannon about making some 'short' segments. It was Mr. Bannon who made the decision to make a 2-hour movie, using his own money. Why didn't she just say no?

"4 -- Why is she supporting this movie with appearances all over the United States? What is the point of traveling all over the U.S., generating press coverage everywhere, and shaking hands and speaking with people, voters, in every locale?

"5 -- Why are there O4P organizations in over_30_states, especially in all of the early primary states? Why didn't Mrs. Palin just tell these people to stop? Is she that callous, that she would allow these people to waste their time and energy in this manner?(continued)

Why is it so important to declare more than eight months before the first caucus? I have never gotten the need for an 18 month campaign, but hey thats just me.

What I think most people don't understand is that the “she is not running narrative” is the establishment's counterattack for the strategy that Palin is employing. It is their attempt to bleed support, funds and enthusiasm from her. It is the proper strategy to employ by the establishment and her political opponents. I think if more people understood this the counterattack would be muted.

And Palin’s bus tour, her appearance in IA her media appearances etc are ways Palin is countering their attack.

Now the only way to completely defeat this narrative is with an announcement but at that moment Palin opens herself for other attacks. She has made the decision that the “she is not running narrative” for now is the easier attack to blunt because of her strong support levels of the base.

It gives her more time to gel her campaign themes, work on her stump speeches, plan her campaign and it saves her money.

Notice that each time the media's “she's not running” narrative gets the upper hand Palin swoops in with some appearance to continue to keep her name in the mix.

Like all battle plans this will have to change as conditions on the ground dictate but for now Palin is controlling the field. the declared candidates aren't taking hold and thus she has more time to “declare” I say at the end of July she will restart her bus tour and by the end of Aug she will wind it up with an announcement.

Unless the conditions dictate otherwise.

3 -- For what possible reason would Mrs. Palin need a movie about her political career?

Especially considering its perfectly-timed release date.

I'd bet that she's running. ....although I wouldn't quite bet the farm.

How does endorsing numerous candidates in 2010 and a bus tour of historical sites amount to "cashing in" when both those things cost her money? You do know that she didn't make The Undefeated and has no financial interest in the movie, right? Then how is she cashing in?

Here in Canada, we get upset if an election period lasts more than 7 weeks — start to finish. I don’t know how you can stand 18 month campaigns (and a lot of people were insisting that candidates declare months ago — making for a 2 year long election period).

Know this, remember this... You have chosen poorly, and it’s hard to imagine that such a choice doesn’t reveal something about the chooser.

Palin’s rise against all odds and in the face of pure evil cannot be by her will alone, tis not possible. There is a reason, and there will be a battle for the soul of America very shortly.

To those here whom have chosen wisely I would only say... HOLD FAST.

These snarky, snide, sphincter strewn comments-- "cashing in," "indecisive," "manipulative control freak," etc.-- are made by people who, like you and me, know she's going to run, and know she's going to win.

How they differ from you and me is that these facts upset them. SO they throw their tiny, inconsequential, might-as-well-not-even-exist little spitballs at the Battleship S H Palin and, for a brief moment, feel a little better about their otherwise pointless, meaningless existences.

We shouldn't begrudge them these miniscule "victories"... I mean, it costs us nothing, and but for these feeble mewlings, what else would they have to live for?

She is C.A.S.H.ing in. She is riding a wave of popularity. It’ll burn off, and she is riding the wave while its there.

HOLD FAST.

Are the letters tatooed across your knuckles, by any chance? ;^)

And with Palin, truly, "Surprise is on our side!"

As for me, my days of voting GOP for "the lesser of two weevils" (!!) are done. From here on out, I vote for a limited government Republican or my vote goes elsewhere.

Please explain. Yes, Fox News hired her as a commentator, she gives tALKS and she wrote two best-selling books, but other than that, what are you describing? And are you saying that Presidents Clinton and Carter, Vice President Gore and many other lesser lights haven't made millions off their fame? Is it because she's a woman that you have a problem with it, or is it that your candidate isn't gaining any traction in this election cycle? Really, we're all interested in why a long-term FReeper would parrot the left's talking points.

I think the ‘it saves her money’ aspect is huge.

She doesn’t intend to ride into office owing all the usual insiders for having funded her. I expect she’ll run a creatively tight campaign once she does enter, and she’ll be looking for more bang for 1/3 of the usual buck that most candidates spend.

With the right narrative, it can feed her reformer and cost-cutter campaign themes.
