Why is it so important to declare more than eight months before the first caucus? I have never gotten the need for an 18 month campaign, but hey thats just me.

Here in Canada, we get upset if an election period lasts more than 7 weeks — start to finish. I don’t know how you can stand 18 month campaigns (and a lot of people were insisting that candidates declare months ago — making for a 2 year long election period).

The only reason that I can think of to declare earlier is that many of the good activists get nervous and commit to someone else. They don’t want to be left w/o a job. My feeling, however, is that a lot of really solid people WILL come forward and work for Sarah anyway, and in ways that they would never think of toiling for anyone else. I surely hope that that turns out to be true. Bob

So the media can have ‘news’ to report and focus everyone’s eye away from the little boy. But it is not news - all they are doing is prophesied for they don’t know anything about tomorrow.
