GOP Beltway Insiders Krauthammer and Will Describe the Substantive Reasons Sarah Palin Can’t Win
Hot Air ^ | June 5, 2011 | Director Blue

Charles Krauthammer‘s substantive reasons that Sarah Palin can’t win in 2012:

I think it would make no sense for her to run. I think her chances of winning the nomination are small. The chances of winning the general election are probably nil. I think, for the same reasons you articulated, 60 percent negatives. That’s almost impossible to overcome. And it isn’t as if that is forever. Hillary Clinton had very high negatives at many points in her career. But over time, they tend to soften.

…The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled. I don’t mean she didn’t go to the right schools… But when it comes to policies, she’s had two and a half years to school herself, and she hasn’t. And that’s a problem. You want a president who will be able to not have to learn on the job. We’ve already had that… …with President Obama and with others… It’s the lack of effort to school herself and the lack of insight to see that she needs it…

…I think if you’re going to master policy, especially world affairs, you’ve got to know history. As you said, you have to know how things evolved, and she is weak on that. It’s not as if she can’t learn. The fact is it doesn’t appear as if she wants to sort of sit down, spend some months schooling herself, as many people have done in preparing for the presidency. If you’re a governor of any state, you face a narrow range of issues, and you don’t have to deal with the world. It’s incumbent on you to actually learn about it.

So, just to recap, Sarah Palin can’t win against Barack Obama because she has high negatives, she hasn’t “school[ed] herself”, and she’s weak on history. But an incompetent community agitator with no executive experience, no private sector experience and who is an acolyte of Alinsky is qualified because he has a beautiful, cultured speaking voice.

George Will‘s substantive reasons that Sarah Palin can’t win in 2012:

The independent voters have made up their minds about her, and it is a negative judgment they’ve made… After the 2008 campaign she had two things she had to do: she had to go home to Alaska and study, and she had to govern Alaska well. Instead she quit halfway through her first term and shows up in the audience of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and other distinctly non-presidential venues…

Just to recap: independent voters have a negative opinion of Palin. And the fact that Democrat operatives had filed 18 frivolous lawsuits — all later dismissed — against her (source: Associated Press), which were bankrupting her family, had nothing at all to do with it. That, plus appearing in the audience of Dancing with the Stars, disqualifies her.

Is this really what passes for informed commentary inside the Beltway?

Remember: Krauthammer worked for Walter-Freaking-Mondale in 1980. George Will endorsed Howard Baker in 1980. Both of these guys completely missed the Reagan revolution. Krauthammer and Will are certainly smart dudes, but their political instincts appear to be for s***. Palin can win. Bachmann can win. Cain can win. Ryan can win. Santorum can win. Obama is a sitting duck if confronted with a true, articulate Constitutional conservative.

He’s a walking, talking disaster as President. And everyone knows it.

By the way, I’ve been out of town for a while. How are those Stimulus, HAMP, Cash-for-Clunkers, Weatherization, Green Jobs, Obamacare, “Banking Reform”, drilling moratorium, First-Time Home-Buyer Credit, auto company takeovers and QE2 programs working out?

Hat tips: Mark Levin and Gateway Pundit.

All BS aside, I just hope she wins and I hope that she doesn’t cave in/sell us out like the rest of the traditional GOP candidates just to win their ‘support’. I cannot see that happening though.

I don’t think she will run. Her latest moves, especially the chase-bus, suggest that she won’t.

Well, since you have been so voiciferous about your views concerning the short-comings of Palin and that you believe she won't be running, you'd better get ready for getting slammed once she declares, you're going to get it heavy and for a while once she does.

I fear the Right may be on the verge of making the same mistake as regards Sarah Palin. That could be.but she does have a record of accomplishment and is certainly capable and appears to be wise in choosing people to work with her. Before she gets the nomination she would be tested and exposed a lot more. Not like Obama was chosen, we do look at Palin critically and argue about her. But in the predicament we in we certainly need a great man or woman who can size up people to help him or her. Main thing for me is I feel Sarah Palin is trustworthy.

You right that danger from Islamofacists and political mmedia is grave too.

"So, just who are the idiots and who might be their next Magic Negro?"

Yes!!! And why would any self-respecting presidential candidate want to bake a batch of cookies in the first place?!! Tell us that... if you can.

We'll wait...

"...Palin is holding off with her decision until she has assurances from the owners of the GOP that the “establishment” will not torpedo her..."

Kidding, right? Since when has the GOP "establishment" not torpedoed her at every possible turn? Hmmm? Seriously?

Sarah knows that they (GOP establishment) will continue to whale away on her, in fact, were they not bent on so doing, she wouldn't have to run in the first place. Hell, if the GOP establishment were willing to live up to the planks in the GOP platform (or at least not torpedo those who would be guided by it), Sarah could go back to being a Hockey Mom Grizzly.

The room in which Sarah lives, and the oxygen that she breathes there, is generated by the vacuum of conservative ideals in the actions of the GOP establishment to begin with.

That these complicit-with-the-Democrat Kabuki Player "Republicans" refuse to stand up for a constitutionally conservative gameplan is the entire raisôn d'etre for The Tea Party and a Palin candidacy.

What alternate uiniverse do you post here from? Who is Your Leader? Do you come in peace?

"...[Palin] needs to put together an effective, deep nationwide organization..."

More "La-la Land" dreamscape silliness... "Cue the Musak!"

Perhaps you actually don't know, but Sarah has an army of tens-of-millions of deeply commited constitutionally conservative arch-patriot volunteers already sworn and ready to mobilize at the drop of her kerchief.

We live in every congressional district in every State of the Union, and are awaiting only word from the "wise barracuda" to jump in unison in a move so energized that its opposite-and-equal reaction will be to alter the rotation of this earth on its axis. Politically speaking, it will be a seismic event on an order of magnitude of Krakatoa to the tenth power.

The very foundations of the political world will tremble, and the Capitol will be rent in two, and the sun will be blotted from the sky as the dust from this cataclysm erupts into the lower-earth atmosphere...

Well, maybe not, but there are a bunch of us, and we're ready. And Sarah damn-well knows it. This is why God put Sarah on this rock, and why He will lift her up to the White House to lead our glorious Rennaissance.

Crap!!! There I go again. Anyway, you get the picture.

Look, just pop some popcorn and find an easy chair, the show of shows is about to begin. It'll start in Iowa later this month, with the showing of "The Undefeated." And don't worry... we'll do all the heavy lifting.

Because they are insiders, they don’t have a clue as to how many people will simply stay home if Romney is the nominee.

Jon, I owe ya a cold beer, great post. Been saying it myself, this is a trial run for the kids to see if they can handle it.

But this is your gem.....

The bone chilling, man against the environment of Alaska has toughened Sarah Palin and has prepared her to do it. And, her experience will pass down to her children a very important legacy that will be passed to future generations. In my estimation, Sarah believes that her children are being given an opportunity of experience that no amount of money could buy.

Hopefully not just her kids, but all of ours. This women is undaunted, she is that silly song from that musical "I can do anything", yes she can. How many young girls will glom onto her as a roll model if she becomes POTUS? Even more dangerous? A role model for the Women in the Arab World, they will eventually tell the dysfunctional men in their lives to shove it. Nevermind the Arab Spring, it will be the Summer of Sarah when they glom onto her spirit and run with it....

ngat and Wolfstar,

Since it is obvious you seem to have missed it, Palin threw down the gauntlet to the republican establishment on Sean Hannity's show the other night. It might have been lost on you naysayers, but, trust me, it was NOT lost on the party hacks who might try to torpedo her. She said she had never considered a THIRD party run until "very recently." She SAID it might be time for the GOP to disappear...go the way of the whigs. SHE can make it do that. Yes. She can. And they know it.

Dumb,

just can’t see with a biographical pic and nationwide bus tour, and palin turning fire on romney, where you would say “all political pointers” are aimed toward her not running. I think that given what we’ve seen, that is the least logical conclusion.

If America had a series of disasters either man made or by other means I would immediately turn to what Sarah Palin say or suggests, be it from the newsroom in her house in Wasilla or in her mobile command post.

Obama can just crow all he wants, even should he manage to fool America twice and wins I will not respect nor honor his decisions or actions...well I havn’t yet so I will continue to look at him as just being an affirmative action actor in the wrong place and totally unqualified.

If America has to look towards an underground leader then they will if necessary.

“Allowing RINO pundits to tell conservatives how to vote is like allowing gay fashion designers to tell straight men how to dress.”

Great way to put it. And, have no doubt that that is what is and will be the pre-2012 routine. For example, the “RINO pundits” are now getting behind Romney—hah, what a change, remember how Romney was despised in 2008 by the punditry, largely, I think, because of his Mormon faith? Well, today there is a poll out showing that Romney leads Obama. Surprise, surprise, only Romney can beat Obama, so you dumba— Conservatives shouldn’t pick anyone else but Romney.

IMHO, almost anyone the GOP nominates will beat Obama, so we need to pick a solid Conservative like a Palin and not let the RINOs pick the candidate.

They are male chauvanists. I think it’s that simple. The idea of a woman president, expecially a conservative woman, has given them the vapors:)

We have all these people running, yet nobody but Sarah is going after Obama. Why aren’t they out there educating the public? Are they afraid the media will attack them? It seems like Sarah is taking all the flack for them and she’s not even running YET.

“Can you figure out what she is waiting for?”

First, she would have to give up her bully pulpit at fauxnews.

Second, the fundraising rules for candidates that have announced are far more restrictive.

Third, the howling fools in the lamestream media will crank up their attacks at that moment. While Sarah is well equipped to handle the scum, why expose yourself to the abuse until you have to?

Fourth, the timing from a political perspective isn’t right. You want the announcement to be memorable, so you pick the date and the place that would make it such.

Fifth, once she does announce her movements will be more restricted. Too many PDS’rs out there.

Sixth and most importantly in my view, is that there is simply no compelling reason for her to announce yet. She can take a vacation with her family and have the lamestream media chasing her like papparazzi. She will have a huge crowd regardless of when or where she chooses to announce. The same cannot be said for the rest of those who are running.
