Charles Krauthammers substantive reasons that Sarah Palin cant win in 2012:
I think it would make no sense for her to run. I think her chances of winning the nomination are small. The chances of winning the general election are probably nil. I think, for the same reasons you articulated, 60 percent negatives. Thats almost impossible to overcome. And it isnt as if that is forever. Hillary Clinton had very high negatives at many points in her career. But over time, they tend to soften.
The problem with her, I think, is that she is not schooled. I dont mean she didnt go to the right schools But when it comes to policies, shes had two and a half years to school herself, and she hasnt. And thats a problem. You want a president who will be able to not have to learn on the job. Weve already had that with President Obama and with others Its the lack of effort to school herself and the lack of insight to see that she needs it
I think if youre going to master policy, especially world affairs, youve got to know history. As you said, you have to know how things evolved, and she is weak on that. Its not as if she cant learn. The fact is it doesnt appear as if she wants to sort of sit down, spend some months schooling herself, as many people have done in preparing for the presidency. If youre a governor of any state, you face a narrow range of issues, and you dont have to deal with the world. Its incumbent on you to actually learn about it.
So, just to recap, Sarah Palin cant win against Barack Obama because she has high negatives, she hasnt school[ed] herself, and shes weak on history. But an incompetent community agitator with no executive experience, no private sector experience and who is an acolyte of Alinsky is qualified because he has a beautiful, cultured speaking voice.
George Wills substantive reasons that Sarah Palin cant win in 2012:
The independent voters have made up their minds about her, and it is a negative judgment theyve made After the 2008 campaign she had two things she had to do: she had to go home to Alaska and study, and she had to govern Alaska well. Instead she quit halfway through her first term and shows up in the audience of Dancing with the Stars and other distinctly non-presidential venues
Just to recap: independent voters have a negative opinion of Palin. And the fact that Democrat operatives had filed 18 frivolous lawsuits all later dismissed against her (source: Associated Press), which were bankrupting her family, had nothing at all to do with it. That, plus appearing in the audience of Dancing with the Stars, disqualifies her.
Is this really what passes for informed commentary inside the Beltway?
Remember: Krauthammer worked for Walter-Freaking-Mondale in 1980. George Will endorsed Howard Baker in 1980. Both of these guys completely missed the Reagan revolution. Krauthammer and Will are certainly smart dudes, but their political instincts appear to be for s***. Palin can win. Bachmann can win. Cain can win. Ryan can win. Santorum can win. Obama is a sitting duck if confronted with a true, articulate Constitutional conservative.
Hes a walking, talking disaster as President. And everyone knows it.
By the way, Ive been out of town for a while. How are those Stimulus, HAMP, Cash-for-Clunkers, Weatherization, Green Jobs, Obamacare, Banking Reform, drilling moratorium, First-Time Home-Buyer Credit, auto company takeovers and QE2 programs working out?

>>Ill argue what I choose to argue, thank you.<<
Certainly. If I say it is round, you can argue it is purple. Classic forensic theory suggests arguments support a proposition. But I would never suggest to edit your perspective.
>>I believe you seem rather more determined in your arguments, than simply one motivated by an intellectual debate.<<
I made a prediction. It is simple. Gov. Palin won’t run. It says nothing about her qualifications, her reasoning, her perception by the US. Why is such a prediction met with such animosity?
>>Frankly you seem to be advocating actively and with an untoward amount of determination, as a termite.<<
No, I am just baffled by what I am now calling “Reverse PDS.”
>>If that isnt too oblique a reference.<
No, but I still don’t understand the anger.

Shes young. She can wait until 2016 or 2020 no matter what.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Then the new meme will be “Sarah Palin missed her chance and she’s yesterday’s news”. The MSM will still have the meme crap and the pundits will still poo-poo her (perpetual cheerleader). It’s now or never.
Well you’re getting no anger from me.
Just opposition. :)
Dismissal. Put downs. Belittling criticism. Naturally.

>>While I can appreciate what you’re saying, unless you want to be here all night, I’d probably drop it. <<
Good advice. I don’t know why I continue these things way beyond the stretch point.
I think I just get frustrated since I think I am being clear and can’t understand where the communication disconnection happened.
Good night FRiend and thanks for words of wisdom at a good juncture.
Hey Kraut and Will - Talk to the hand!
>>It still is.<<
Last word for the night.
No it isn’t.
Duh. What do you think makes homosexuals avoid women? They have a pathological fear of women. Homosexuals are heterophobes. Surely this is obvious by now.
“”OTOH 60% negatives with independents is a somewhat lethal number. Obama never had that.””
http://townhall.com/columnists/brentbozell/2011/04/27/obama_unloved,_here_and_abroad/page/full/
The Post said this hardship could “slow Obama’s reelection campaign.” Again, that’s putting it mildly. Sixty percent of independents feeling the pain of gas prices said they would definitely not vote for Obama.
“Turn the page backward, and on page A-10, there’s another story. More Americans disapprove of Obama’s management of the war in Afghanistan than support it: 44 percent approved, 49 percent disapproved. Once again, just focus on the independents: 53 percent disapproved of Obama’s handling of Afghanistan.”
That is something people who oppose her are just not willing to give her. She has already won. She's walked the walk these past years better than most who have gone before her...in fact pretty outstanding IMO. Amazing that Kruth even mentions she's not educating herself on history as other Pres, have done to prepare....No, she isn't sitting behind a book somewhere...she's actually going to those places where our history is recorded! What an idiot he is! Furthermore, like it or not, Sarah is liked on the International scene. Leaders enjoy her before they even meet her yet have their defenses up at the same time. They get it! They know she'll call it as she sees it.
LOL...your slip is showing.
Of course she is qualified, look at her record in Alaska.
and btw, when you get right down to it, the 300M people are running the country through their elected officials.
Everyone has lost sight of that...except Palin.
Who is more prepared? she did significant things as governor and has massive energy policy experience. I am not on any side at this stage, but she is no less prepared than any other governor in the race. She was picked in 2008 for a reason....she has an exceptional background as governor and was on the short list of up and comers in the party.

Enjoying messing with the press as a reason to wait is nonsensical, but when you said “wanting to get the people on her side on her side.” you are getting warm.
She won’t make a primary run unless she can get the Party on her side, should she win enough delegates to be nominated.
Too polarizing? State the ways!
Can't win the nomination? Substantive reasons why!
Can't win the general election? Why not?
Not 'schooled' in foreign policy and history? Oh, I see, you have to be a member of The Council of Foreign Relations to join the club? Not anymore! You'll see!
And BTW, Obama is 'schooled' in foreign policy and history? Give us a break. . He's never done a payroll. How the hell does he know how the real world works. Marxism isn't world history. Foreign policy is not forming a socialist one world government.
Sarah will do just fine. You'll see! We're taking our country back!
Tell me what POTUS of VPOTUS candidate the media treated as harshly as they did Palin in the last 40 years?
Zero. That’s how many.
I saw a headline today that actually called her “crazy”
