.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

She said she'd dent my head
And send me running from my bed
She wasn't as nice as I'd been led
And who'd have known she dressed in red?
And with that vase she'd make me dead.

We will definitely keep your friend, Russ, in our prayers. We will also pray that God give the doctors the knowledge to make the correct decisions.
On another subject ..... has anyone heard how Jacquelyn, the 7 year old, is doing. I have not been pinged lately and I am worried about her. Please continue to pray for her and her family.

My "poem for today"
There once was a freeper named Louie
Who always found graphics groovy!
on many threads he was a "wolfie"
cause he'd eat all mama_bear's cookies!
When he saw the "finest" hostesses
He'd let go an "Ahroo!"
and bring flowers to the "babes"
One day Amy along with her CAL pals and a few from other places
decided to clean up the area
In Sacramento town they got the "gray" out
added a bit of accent
and terminated the 'rats!
When Louie saw, he let out a howl
saying: This be the place for me!

I had that initially up on another thread, and my dear sis yelled at me for not admitting to having drawn the image myself.
So, yes, I drew that myself.
Thanks.

That's actually, in my opinion, one of my 'least best'.
(I haven't scanned the one I like the most yet.)
It can be easily learned, but it takes time and patience.
Most people don't have the patience for it.
For me, this comes naturally, so when I lose patience with a sketch there's usually a reason for it.
So people learning to draw tend to give up before they start to see results.
I also readily admit that there are people far better than I out there.

Maybe you should scan that one that you like best.
I'd like to see more of your work. :)

Eventually, the scanner needs to be hooked up yet again.
Had to switch systems around here and in the shuffle things got shuffled.

Good morning, FRiend Amy, and P & P Patrons. I missed getting here yesterday and wanted to be sure to be here today to read all the lovely poems and posts. For kicks, I went to an 'old' poetry thread and must say that even though the purple background and a couple of the opening graphics are the same, you've improved on the design and layout so much - it's much prettier now than in the beginning! Kudos to you all for making it better than ever.
Am reposting an autumn graphic I posted before, just because I think it's so pretty.
(And I pinged Flyer to it this time. :))

Thank you, Darks. Did you do the sketch or did the sketch inspire the poem? They are both cute.
