.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

I missed most of the interview,Pippin. It was on, but turned out to be background noise with everything else going on around me. :(

Clear As Mud
by Bruce Lansky
I go to bed each morning.
I wake up every night.
I spill my milk at breakfast,
and then turn on the light.
Each day I miss the school bus.
I never have been late.
I don't turn in my homework.
My teacher thinks I'm great.
My favorite game is basketball.
I cannot sink a shot.
We haven't won a single game.
Our team is getting hot.
Last year I was in high school.
Now I'm in second grade.
Next year I'll be in daycare.
I'll really have it made!
When I grow up, I'm hoping
a baby I can be:
a pacifier in my mouth,
my cradle in a tree.
This poem's so confusing.
It's all so crystal clear.
Perhaps I'll understand it
when I am born next year.

Tomorrows Awwww......that is beautiful, Amy.
Good morning, Ms. Poetry and Potpourri Hostess. I don't have time to locate a poem this morning but wanted to pop in and say hello and leave some flowers for the table. I'll try to get back here later today.

This looks like a fun thread. I don't remember the original one, though.
I'll tell a cute story that took place in my home last week.
I homeschool our children and we like to take a break in the morning after we work for a while. Last year, we watched "I Love Lucy" for our break, but we've seen almost all of the episodes, so I decided that we will watch "Leave it to Beaver" this year. I was secretly hoping that my children would be inspired by the Beaver and Wally who I think are wonderful role models.
Well, a few weeks after watching the show, my ten year old son came up to me and said, "Mom? Why can't you be more like June Cleaver?"
Oh, my! I think my plan backfired!

Good Morning, Dansy!
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with these kind of days. I think it will take more than One cup of Meekie's coffee this morning.

What a funny story, Candi! Kids have a way of bringing it all back home, don't they?
I was talking with my daughter the other night on the phone. In the background I could hear my little 3 yr old grandson jabbering away, apparently to no one. Suddenly I hear, "Wilson Mom! Hellllllooooooooo!" He had been trying to get him mom's attention as we talked, and didn't buy her motions to wait a minute. :) The little sponges can really surprise us at times with what they "pick up". LOL!
