.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

I wonder if JustAmy hired a net nanny?
She won't know I was here until she comes back tomorrow! Heh Heh
I think you can get away with just about anything on opening day, Frank, but look out tomorrow! : )

LOL! That guy is tooooo funny! :)Glad you like him, most folks are scared of him. LOL
Had him in my stack of stuff and finally found a thread where he will be appreciated. All poets are a tad strange, eh? : )

What a group!
I'm deeply honored, Amy...thank you.
As the holiday season approaches, may this true story
remind you not to count your turkey's til they're latched!
While preparing the first Thanksgiving dinner in our new home of only a few days, I finally got the turkey all trussed up and into the oven. Our 12 yr. old son saunters in, asks to take a peek at the turkey, and proceeds to open the strange new oven by the "handle,"
which he assumed opened the same way as the dishwasher. In two seconds flat, he managed to undo
an hour's worth of turkey prep by pulling the latch across and locking it into the oven cleaning cycle!
We couldn't pry it open to save our lives, and no service person was available til the next day. We did manage to
at least cut off the power, but that pitiful bird just sat there rotting til the next day...
He's 25 now, and will never live that down!

Your story brought to mind the time one of my daughters tried to help me out by dusting all of the living room furniture. :) It was such a sweet gesture, but I can't even imagine the shades I turned when I realized she had used oven cleaner! LOL! Luckily she was outside playing by the time I was frantically running around trying to save the finish! Easy-off and Pledge do look similar, and I certainly didn't want her to think I didn't appreciate her help!
