Simple, I haven't seen Babylon 5 in almost 10 years and never watched Stargate. ;^)

I have to admit to liking Diet Vanilla Coke. When Vanilla Coke came out, I was almost praying that it would be successful enough that they'd do a diet version. LOL!

Speaking of pretending, when we lived in China many pastries came with a red bean paste filling. It was very hard to find chocolate filling in anything. One American got all excited about finding a place in our city that sold chocolate-filled pastries and told everyone about it.

Turns out, to his embarrassment, that it was red bean paste, but he wanted it to be chocolate so bad and had a good enough imagination and poor enough memory of what real chocolate was that he had transformed it into a chocolate-filled pastry. He said finding out it was red bean paste ruined it for him and I don't think he ate them anymore.

I'm off to do a job I've been putting off: put up barbed wire to try to keep Maggie the Houdini dog inside. She's been roaming the neighborhood and acting like a cow dog by slipping under the fence. I watched her do it yesterday and it's hilarious what position she gets herself in to wriggle under.

She's a bad influence to boot. One of the baby goats gets under the fence in just the same spot. Hopefully one line of barbed wire will do the trick and keep them both in.

We do have one goat who is an amazing jumper. Mrs. Mulliner saw her hop the gate that is nearly four feet high. She jumps up against the wall perpindicular to the gate and ricochets off. I guess there's nothing to do about that for now...except maybe to grease that spot on the wall :-)

The Atkins book recommends not using any aspartame because it causes spikes in blood sugar in some people. That includes Equal as well as Diet Cok and Diet Pepsi.

I will have to look for Weight Watcher's soda. I bet it is carried on the north side. My sister told me the other day that thee are whole stored devoted to low-carb cooking on the north (trendy) side of town.

Our side of town is always the LAST to get retailers like that. The north side spends money like water. Southsiders are tight-fisted. LOL!

I've never seen Babylon 5. I'm kind of afraid to. I like sci fi, but I'm pretty picky about it. A lot of the sci fi series I have tried, never interested me. What is it like? Is it good?

Guennie ~~~ thanks for the update on the fire ..... such a tragedy! And yet I know that you are all breathing easier knowing that it was not some shady character who was the cause of it. Glad they were able to identify the source .... those fire investigators are fantastic!

Hi guys - checking in. We never lost power but have no water and no cable. But we do have phones so am using dialup.

We did fill up the bathtub yesterday, thank goodness, so we can flush the toilets, and we do have four cases of bottled water. Also, did all the laundry and dishes before I went to bed because I was afraid we'd lose power.

Oh, well. ;^)

Going out to buy paper plates.

I too am very picky about SciFi, and I really enjoyed B5. It was well written, and was a complete ongoing storyline for all 5 seasons (The guy who worte the series, J. Michael Straczynski, knew how he wanted the series to end before the first show was ever shot) There are a lot of twists and turns and it can be very engrossing.

If you get a chance, watch an episode and see what you think.

LOL! I just remembered a dream I had almost 15 years ago.

It was our first year in China and we lived on the south side of the big city of Chengdu (about 8 million). Goods were not plentiful then and most stores carried the very same things which limited variety.

One night I dreamed that I ventured out on my bicycle to the north side and found large grocery stores and a Burger King and Pizza Hut and everything imaginable. What a weird dream that was to wake up from. But I couldn't resist going up there just to see if it might be true!

BTW, when I read the Atkins book, I think I disregarded the thing about aspertame because at that time I never drank soda except maybe once a month. And it was a friend I had got started on Atkins who told me about the Equal tablets so it never occurred to me that it was a no-no. I guess it's a good thing I've already switched over to Splenda.

Now I really am going out to do the fencing.

Did my walk along the beach and guess what, ole Jasper is back. He seemed pleased to see me, did not fly off when I walked towards him and musta gotten 5 feet from him. I was afraid that he had been killed, they caught some teenagers riding down the beach drive shooting cranes a pelicans with a 22.

The liberal mind is something we can't see, but we can hear the words is forms. I have a friend who says she is a Republican, but cannot for the life of her cannot find anything good the Republicans or Pres. Bush have done. In fact when the name Pres. Bush comes up, she really goes into 5th gear about all the terrible mistakes he has made. I retort with the good he has done and how truthful his words are. We've been friends for over 30 years, she has many good points, but her politics really stink. The last time we met, I mentioned how terrible it must be to be a liberal democrat with no values and no ideas to keep America free. I also mentioned the democrats want nothing but their power back and America be damned. She agreed.
