Oh, how tragic! I've always felt that the loss of a child was the most difficult loss to deal with.
My prayers for the family ..... may God help them to find peace and may He hold them in His loving arms and carry them through the difficult days ahead.
And may He be with your boychild and give him courage and strength to say and do the right things!

Is it honestly realistic to expect that you will get 3 months notice before you're deployed? I know people who got less than a weeks notice.

Llano Winery is sponsoring a chocolate competition in January in Lubbock, Texas. I hate chocolate, but 4 other seniors at school want to compete, and they have the talent, but they don't have the project management skills for something this big. So, I have been drafted to project manage and make tools/forms as required. They promise I won't have to touch chocolate.
The school is being pretty good about it. We will all be graduated by the time of the contest, but the chef is going to let us use the kitchen after school, and the pastry chef is going to coach us.

Is it honestly realistic to expect that you will get 3 months notice before you're deployed? I know people who got less than a weeks notice. I have a list of all of my known training deployments for the next year. And there are over 45 days in the next 6 months that I have duty. As far as real-world deployments to a wartime theater, I can only expect 22 hours notice. But chef understands that. It's the known ones that he wants to schedule. If it's a regular war-time deployment, I'll quit so he can hire someone else, because of how long I would be gone.
