Well, I am wondering too. She called yesterday afternoon
while still at work! All of Washington was shut down except the Nordstrom at Pentagon City Mall. The mall was closed and N. sent home all employees
except their managers. Finally got to leave at 5 P.M. supposedly.
I haven't heard from her since about 2:00 EST yesterday. She said where she lived was the highest part of Old Town and she wasn't worried. (Wonder if she saw Fox News this morning?) Probably not...probably no power.
Anyway I think she's carrying this independent thing just a little too far. I'm developing quite a snit over this...but I am determined to not let her know. (She has a cell phone...no excuses accepted.) At least her name has not been on the news and the Virginia police haven't called.
Thanks for asking...it sounds like you understand the situation. I would imagine that boys could be even worse than girls.

P.S. I have the blahs too. :-)

Isabel has obviously screwed up everyone's mood. As George Carlin as the hippy-dippy weather man said, "What this country needs is a good high."
Sorry for that irreverent piece of humor.

How could your spirits not be raised when surrounded by this kind of beauty?

Hang in there, sweetie. My daughter is in Fairfax County. We got an email from her about 11:00 last night saying that things hadn't been too bad .... not as much rain or wind as expected. What she didn't realize was that the worst was yet to come.
She did say that she had tried calling and the phones were messed up. I have been eagerly awaiting more word from her today but so far it has been in vain.
I can't reach her by phone ..... and I know she would call if she could ..... she's the type who would. No further email either.
I don't think it's a matter of your daughter not trying to contact you but her not being able to.
At this point, I'm assuming that no news is good news.

Have any of you seen or heard anything about this story? FOX News has had someting about it but I haven't watched the other networks to see if they're running it .... somehow I doubt it.
This really ticks me off ..... I think it's something about which we should be very concerned.
Religion Students Battle States for College Money
The gist of it is that a college student's scholarship has been revoked because she declared theology as her major. The jerks who are wound up tight about separation of church and state (and put a completely WRONG interpretation on it) say that the state can't pay to train leaders of churches.
I wonder if this should have it's own thread .... any takers? I don't do threads (except for posting the Pray for President Bush thread and that doesn't involved linking to an article).

Anyone else sick of Sean Blabbity's open plugging of Ahnold for Guv. in Mexifornia???
Blabbity is for Ahnold simply because he has star power and allows him to rub elbows with a movie star. Meanwhile, the only thing that Ahnold has going for him from a conservative point of view is that he is (at least reportedly) a fiscal conservative who has the best Republican chance to win.
From an experience standpoint, McClintock has a solid conservative record, has all the right (and Right) positions, and has actual legislative experience.
My point is that Blabbity is a conservative only so long as there isn't a Hollywood bandwagon to jump on.
Maybe if McClintock made a couple movies....

Well, if this is any indication of that, Blabbity had Chuck NOrris on his radio show this afternoon giving $5K for some guy in Jupiter FLA who was facing losing his house over condo association issues and flying the flag.
All Blabbity could do was brag about Chuck calling in and how he's gonna have Chuck on his TV show.

While I do not support McClintock because I am pragmatically thinking it would be better to win than to stand on principles in the case of California, and also my opinion doesn't really count because I don't LIVE in California, nonetheless I must agree about Hannity.
It sort of reminds me of Rush always bragging about who he plays golf with. It doesn't contribute to anything and distracts from the discussion.

Got to leave for a while. Baby granddaughter is here and I am watching her this evening so that the older ones can be taken to the circus. Back later.

Irreverent humor is quite OK, and that is a beautiful scene you posted. I'm not totally bummed out...still can appreciate all the beauty and good things we here in the good ol' USA enjoy.
Kay, I'm glad you said that the phones are a problem. It could very well be that she is saving her cell phone juice for emergencies. She is a very good and responsible girl. Just a little uppity lately about parental advice.

I agree with you MM, I would rather win, too, but then I am not telling people who disagree with me to read my two books in order to 'educate' themselces about 'conservative principles.' All I want Blabbity to do is admit that he is putting on hold all that he claims to hold dear so that this moth can get a little closer to the flame. ;-)
(Can you tell that I liked the local talk radio programming just fine before they switched to 'Hannitization'??? ;-))

That is a shame.....but will respect JimRob's wishes.
