If you mean "also," already set in stone.
If you mean "instead" -- not an option.

Gandalf's head actually bobbles, yes.
It is FAR more creepy than Oompa Loompas.... ;~D

I'm holding for the boxed "director's cut" edition myself. I know it will be a wait, but worth it.

Picked up my copy at Walmart last night for $14.87. And yes, I received the promotional glow-in-the-dark "One Ring". My understanding though is that the "ring" was being given only to people who were buying the DVD between midnight and 6 am. I was there at 12:01 am, and there were already 30 people ahead of me.
A word of warning though... Walmart has a habit of raising the price on "hot" DVDs back to $18 and change after they've been out a few weeks.

Heh, well, that comment wasn't so much directed at you, but at any lurkers who might be reading and were undecided about when to buy.

My wife reserved a copy at Blockbuster a few weeks ago. She said she got a 10 free rental deal which is worth $20-$30 depending on the movies you want to rent. She paid retail at $29.95 but with the free rentals it works out to be a pretty good deal.

Went to Wal-Mart, bought two for $14.97 each. Best deal I've seen or heard of, in-store.
No rings or bobbles though, and very bad service.
I brought a magazine. I suggest you do the same, if you haven't bought yours.

PS -- points, though, for (A) knowing and (B) using the word "Wastrel," which actually is the title of an unpublished novel of mine.

Yes, I got mine too $14.76, the VHS was $14.56- but the DVD price was for a few days, and then it will go to $19.+
The $14.76 was a special introductory price, for less than a week.
To: BibChr
I say that the best buy is to wait until November to buy the film.
This DVD release is the theatrical version. The longer edit of the film (and extra bonus stuff) will come out on a November release.

Same with us...got ours at Walmart. But it had a glitch right when Gandalf rides up at the end and says "All our hopes now rest with two little hobbits." So I exchanged it.
