Wife picked ours up at Wal-Mart for $14...something. She works there part-time and got it after work this a.m. They wouldn't give her the additional discount since it was already discounted.

WOW! That's a terrific price. Online, WalMart has it for like ~$17. I stopped in yesterday, and they couldn't/wouldn't tell me what it'd be selling for. It'd be worth braving the Babel and the crowds.

I'm getting mine at Blockbuster today, because they had a deal for free movies. The other reason is that the merchant knows me and understands that there had better be a copy with my name on it *today*! Or else he'll get a close look at Shelob...

Happy birthday to me! Guess how I'll be spending it?

Tell me again, dear... how many children are you homeschooling and/or supporting in college?

Penny-pinching and proud of it,

Personally, I'm waiting until the third one comes out and getting the boxed set... Hopefully it will be worth while.

OK - Blockbuster wasn't open yet when I got there.... THE NERVE!

So I went to Fred Meyer across the street and they had it for $19 with a free 12-pack of pop and a free bobble head of my choice!

Here's the bobble head I picked... I looked hard at the Frodo, but artistically, this one was the best.

And... Gandalf's HEAD actually BOBBLES?

Well, I guess it's a short step from liking Ooma-Loompa's, to being able to abide the Rankin-Bass abominations, to a bobble-headed Gandalf.

Sometimes Blockbuster has a 10-free rental card (one a week for ten weeks) when you buy a hot new release like this. If so, that's a great way to go. You pay full retail for the DVD, but then get the free rentals.

If that is not available, we find the Sam's Club usually has the best price on new release videos and books.

Yep, that I think will be the minimum we'll watch tonight. Probably won't be able to watch the whole movie until Friday night. Maybe we'll watch the first sequence, and then scream when we have to shut it down. Almost all of us = very early risers of necessity these days.
