That story was proved to be false ..... several FReepers called her office and she is in DC working. There was a thread that has since been pulled.

Mr. Mulliner ~~~ congrats on the new job! I hope this proves to be the answer to all our prayers for you.

Guennie ~~~ while we've certainly never experienced anything as blatant as what you and King Arthur did at that restaurant, we've seen many a wait staff member's face fall when they ask about our drink selection and it's iced tea. It has seemed at times that other tables have gotten faster service. What happened to you two went far beyond that, though.

..... As a business owner I can say that we would much rather a customer came to us and complained rather than simply taking their business elsewhere. It gives us the chance to make amends ..... and also to learn from our mistakes and work on further training of our employees. We always thank our customers for giving us the opportunity to make things right and serve their needs better.

ICFN(ICan'tFixNothing) ~~~ Abolutely delighted to hear your news! Isn't God simply wonderful to us???

Radix ~~~ Not in hibernation, sir ..... was taking my m-i-l home from an assisted living center after back surgery.

..... That movie was beautiful! Thanks!!!

..... Any word yet on when 2LT might be coming home?

Neets ~~~ How's that leg today? Are you keeping it propped?

..... So glad you got to the doctor before real damage was done.

Bit ~~~ I didn't know that you knew my mother ......

bev ~~~ Oh my! How frightening that must have been! Prayers and *hugs* for you both!

ALL ~~~The weekend went well .... sort of ..... *sigh*

..... We still have some concerns about Mom [my m-i-l] being by herself but she's in the Lord's hands. She slept quite well the nights we were there .... we think a sign that she is really happy being back home ..... :-)

Complete change of subject .... I got so mad the other night I nearly threw something through Mom's tv set. The local nbc station [in Wilmington] was reporting on the Kobe Bryant story.

..... Now you know there must be just oodles of file footage of him .... on the basketball court, at press conferences, etc.

..... But the video clips they showed of him while reporting of the charges of sexual assault were of him at the White House with President Bush when the Lakers were invited there as NBA champs. So help me, I think they showed more pics of the President than they did of Kobe! And in the background, the news reader was saying "sexual assault" over and over with pictures of the President on the screen ...... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

..... I wondered if the story was a "package" from the network because it just didn't seem like the sort of file video a local station would pull for such a story.

Busy day ahead for me ..... back much later.

Bit, that link is slow to load for me on Netscape, so I'll try IE...

More storms brewing over Michigan this afternoon. I'm wondering if this morning's is headed your way, lysie and Neets?

Just as we got to the terminal the heavens unloaded. AND the radio announced a Tornado Warning for Cuyahoga co.

Until then we'd had a dry trip, altho lightening to the west flashed across the dark sky and warned of what was to come.

After letting John out, I moved to the end of the Departure area to wait and decide what to do. It was 5:15, very dark, and very wet.

Two options were to wait there until someone told me to move, or go to the Parking Deck. I chose the latter, after seeing one entrance just ahead and to the left.

I waited there just about an hour. It was easy to watch the eastern sky - where the storm was headed - from under edge of the deck.

Once the skies lightened, and the rain, diminished I set off, and altho the rain was moderately heavy, the route was drivable.

Back in Akron, driving around and listening to the radio, it's clear we were hit hard in the area: Thousands without power, trees down, etc. Not far to the east of the Cleveland airport, there was especially a lot of damage. If I'd not waited, I'd have driven right thru that nightmare.

Raven, our side of Akron was hard hit, and near your old house near Stan Hywet & N. Portage Path was mentioned on the Cleveland radio just now. Altho....I drove by there to and from the doctor's mid-morning, and didn't see anything, but traffic lights aren't working, branches and trees down...

Dolly, how are you???

Kay, welcome back and thanks for the Ping List! Very interested in you MIL and her situation. You're doing so well with helping her!

Horrible story....The honest lawyers and local Bar Assn. should make sure that thieving fellow gets the strong punishment due him.

But then....look at the kindness & generosity of his old neighbors and friends, the members of his parish. They came to his rescue! THAT is heartwarming indeed.
