We have finally had a few days of dry weather .... and
finally are having summer time .... the 3 H's ..... hot, hazy, humid. Generally, meteorologists could just take the summer off in NC and keep replaying their forecast day after day .... "high in the low to mid 90s, low about 70, 30% chance of thunderstorms" .....
Today the official high in Charlotte was 90. It's July 8 and just hit 90 for the first time! ...... I don't remember that ever happening before in this part of the country in all my 57 years . Last year we had had nineteen 90 or higher days by this date.
What a strange weather year for so many people. And, of course, we all know it's George Bush's fault ...... ;-)

It's time for me to call it a night.
God bless us all. Each, and every one.

I vote for Snickers Cheesecake. One of my Daughter in Laws makes it. It is wonderful. Chocolate Cheesecake topped with Carmel and Pecans.

Actually, Molly, most of my committee is burned out. What bothers me, is that we will lose more and more church members as this drags on. My understanding is that it will probably take at least another 12-18 months if the vestry doesn't accept one of the candidates we just vetted.
That would mean that we would be going on 2-1/2 to 3 years without a permanent rector, and right now we have a retired priest as a temp and he is only part time. Not that he isn't good, he is. His sermons are knock your socks off every Sunday, and he is very gracious, etc. BUT, we have a congregation that is at least 1/3 over 70 years of age and quite a few of those are in their middle to late 80's, and they are getting nervous.
Oh, well, my worrying won't solve a thing. It will all work out on God's own time schedule.

For I shall make no pastry. Never again. ;>) You know....New England cemetaries are full of odd sounding epitaphs like this one...
He had but one wife, if only he Had kept her....
She was last, but never least.
If only She Had Listened
His Bed was His Faithfull Friend...

Wow, John, congratulations.

It sounds like your assessment is right on target, but as you say, we can only do so much, and the rest is in God's firm hands. (((jtill)))

My news is that I have a job interview tomorrow morning at 10:00 am. It is for the position of a UNIX system administrator, the guy called this morning and set up the interview. He asked me what my career goals are (!), and it caught me off guard. I rambled on and said "nothing in management", and the job apparently is overseeing four other sys admins. Which wasn't in the job listing. Oh well, he still wants to interview me, so it will be a good experience.
To: Utah Girl
Good luck, sweetie!
Prayers and *hugs*

Good Luck with the interview. About the only way to hone your interview skills is to go thru the process. I pray something good will come of this.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm really nervous, I've only had two job interviews in my life.
It's not that I don't want to manage, but I would much rather work on computers. I like working with people, but don't think I want to be responsible for reviews, etc. Blech. Just not in my blood. I'm hoping I just misunderstood him this morning, and that he meant I would be the system administrator for four people...(although that doesn't seem possible.)
The man at the career center said that all interviews are a learning experience, and to remember the lessons learned from them. I've just go to think of some good career goals now. I just want a job, and be a productive member of society, and help a company. And get paid.
To: Utah Girl
Getting a job and being a productive member of society sound like pretty good goals.
Much luck on your job interview tomorrow. Just try to relax and be your wonderful self and all will be well.
