A letter to President Bush from Women for a Free Iraq:
February 27, 2003
Dear President Bush:
As women from Iraq who fled our homeland to escape persecution by Saddam Husseins regime, we write to offer our support for your principled leadership. We applaud your determination to disarm Saddam and your commitment to help liberate the people of Iraq. We are daughters, mothers, wives, and sisters whose families and communities have suffered for too long. We stand with you because only the United States and its allies can help the people of Iraq break free from Saddams 34 years of brutal rule.
Those who have taken to the streets with signs reading, No War on Iraq are misled. It is Saddam who has been waging war on the people of Iraq. Every day that this war continues, more of our brothers and sisters will suffer from Saddams totalitarian and racist policies.

Yes, he was inducted on the announcer slate. But it just strikes me as funny that a guy who made beer commercials for years touting the need for him to be in the Hall of Fame would actually make it. He did x42 before anybody had ever heard of x42. ;^)
BTW: those old Miller Lite commercials are still some of the funniest ever made.

Hello! Ya' know one of my favorite flowers is the beautiful white magnolia. There is nothing to rival it in its majestic beauty. I like to have one placed in a silver bowl in the house. The whole place is redolent with its seductive perfume.

"The biggest thrill a ballplayer can have is when your son takes after you. That happened when my Bobby was in his championship Little League game. He really showed me something. Struck out three times. Made an error that lost the game. Parents were throwing things at our car and swearing at us as we drove off. Gosh, I was proud."

Did you ever hear the radio commercial he and Larry Csonka did? It's priceless.
To: ABG(anybody but Gore)
My favorite Uecker story is the one where he shagged fly balls in left field during batting warm-ups with a tuba he borrowed from a marching band attending the game.:)

You know those litle red seeds? Don't ever crush one, they stink.

I think I did but I don't remember it.........

When we were kids, my brother and his friend used to shag those pods at each other. One of those red seeds burst open when the pod hit bro in the face. It created one of the worst infections I have ever seen.

Hey! One of the best chinese restaurants I have ever patronized was down there in your neck of the woods. We had been speaking at churches in your location and staying at a state park just off the beach. There was a restaurant about on the highway that runs parallel but a bit inland to the beach highway. What would that be Hwy. 49? I can't remember the name of the restaurant nor the town, might have been Gulfport. But the food was great! We were there years ago in '94, I think.

I have a question. Do you think Fox is getting the most ridiculous, obnoxious French people to be interviewed, or is that how they all really are?
To: Miss Marple
The only French person I've ever met who wasn't completely obnoxious was a young lady I dated in college. Of course, she had been Americanized somewhat in that she was friendly, shaved her armpits and legs, and bathed, so this is probably an anomaly.

Just some quick news about Jacob. He is doing better today. They didn't have to do a blood transfusion this morning, they're just watching him now for the next 24 hours, and will let him go home. They think it might have been a discrepancy between the bloodwork tests at the two hospitals. Thanks for your prayers.
A small vent before I check out of here for a bit. What is with some FReepers where they can't rejoice over good news? Elizabeth Smart was found, and some are grousing and pointing fingers. The PBA ban bill was passed today, 65 to 32, and I hear "it wasn't enough" and "we need to get new senators." I'm just so happy with all the good news today, it is a true relief from the war and Iraq. Talk to you all later.

The people who post things like that are:
1. The perpetually disgruntled,
2. Mentally off,
OR,
3. Clever disruptors who seek to demoralize and divide this site.
I have gotten to the point that I don't even answer some of them.
Great news about Jacob! I will continue to keep him in my prayers.

One of my son's teachers, from Canada, ws grousing about the US's "rush" to war. He grumbled, "the US has a big bomb. Should someone disarm them?"
My response, "yeah, you gonna do it?"
He sees no correlation between our concern over Saddam and 9/11.

Tell him there are 280 million Americans(give or take a few million anti-american types) who will meet him on the the beach as he storms ashore.
I can't take much more of this anti-american crap.....I even got blindsided by it at work last night.

I am with you, Jim. The other night I, with a little tongue in cheek, made a comment about how peace-loving the US is. We really are.
But another canadian answered me with, "I don't think the rest of the world would agree with you."
Immediately, I turned and replied, "Well, frankly, I don't care what the rest of the world thinks."
He was stunned, but those around me, all Americans, applauded.
