War Secretary Pete Hegseth may face an impeachment vote before the next Congress is seated, as some Republicans, led by Rep. Thomas Massie, are planning to vote on an impeachment resolution after a stunning midterm loss that is widely attributed to the Iran war.
Massie previously introduced articles of impeachment against Hegseth back in September.
CNN is reporting that some GOPers are expecting the latest impeachment resolution to pass in the House as Republican lawmakers turn on Hegseth.
Trump has defended Hegseth, telling reporters on Tuesday that he is not considering firing him.
"No, I think he's doing a very good job," Trump said.
Asked if Hegseth should replace Marsha Blackburn in the Senate after her successful run for Governor in Tennessee, Trump said again, "I think he's doing a very good job."
Still, Trump said, "I actually think he'd be very popular if he did that, but I haven't heard that at all."
WATCH:
CNN reported on Wednesday, "House Republicans are expected to vote to directly repudiate the defense secretary in a matter of days. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, the famously anti-Trump GOP lawmaker, told CNN he plans to trigger a vote to impeach Hegseth when Congress returns next week — and multiple GOP sources said they expect it to pass."
Massie further rebuked Trump for planning to continue the war against Iran, telling CNN, “You don’t screw up this badly an election with just one issue.”

Republicans have too many two bit punk weasles.
Better do it quick. Massie will be history soon. What does it buy you? Thought we were capitalists.
Think of all the senators Trump forced out. Go back to Portman then continue on to Toomey, Flake, Tillis, Cassidy. Did I leave out others? Geezers with one foot in the grave don’t count.
So tell me-who’s left?
POS Massie should be the one resigning due to his pitiful performance as a Rep. or at a minimum officially attach a D behind his name since his actions... or lack thereof... belie his true nature.
Why not , the democrats will impeach everyone anyway even Musk and Musk is a private citizen , LOL
Not sure why they are throwing shade on the Sec of War. Trunp is the CIC and called the shots over there.
Besides, we’ve seen some good stuff out of him that has improved our military and who knows who Trump would nominate to replace him that would have to pass Senate approval now.
Who?
I’m going to look like the biggest idiot on Earth when I ask this. But in my defense, the workload here has been absolutely insane lately, and I’ve had zero time to do much research on any subject. That said, what exactly is being alleged against Hegseth? I figure it must have something to do with Iran, but beyond that I have no idea at all. Thanks in advance for any enlightenment you could give.
Is it really just about Iran? How much does Massie get from defense contractors? I’ll bet they aren’t very happy with Hegseth trying to clean up the good ol’ boys club and contractor grift in the DoW.
Hegseth has a tattoo of a cross, worked for Fox News, is unabashedly manly, does not mince words... I was shocked when he made it through the Senate.
Addendum: I haven’t read the article, just the excerpt. I’ve found in the past that Gateway Pundit sometimes does have very good info, but that at other times, they’re very sensationalist and don’t always make logical sense.
They want Hegseth gone because he fired all their Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon that gave them their inside scoops on military projects so they could buy up stocks before they were announced.................
I recommend Massie put on his big boy pants and “resigns”.
Thomas Massie is one reason why some Trump’s supporters stayed home. Why have a fake Democrat when you can get a Real Democrat?
Thomas Massie is a nasty little rat, isn’t he?
Good reason to keep him then.
This situation makes the DNI's election report (which, if my understanding is correct, is to be presented to Pres. Trump as CiC within 45 days), of particular interest.
He’s a Democrat in RINO’s clothing.............

He don’t seem all that bad.
His votes seem to be fairly in sync with conservative ideals.
That said, Trump has been made into a boogieman in certain areas and for certain groups.
Massie may be trying to survive given the people whose vote he’s asking for.
Even JD is distancing himself from Trump, blaming the mid terms on Iran, which is obviously bogus and going against the direction Trump is steering the ship (out of necessity - Iran should not be permitted to have a nuke, that’s a real threat, unlike Ukraine where we have no national security interest at stake).
JD also wants to survive, likely run for President, and focusing in on immigration and the true cause, the collapse of the Latino voting base (Texas being the prime example), will not help him starting next year.
I am speculating, but I would imagine that some of this political maneuvering is done in coordination with Trump. Meaning, Trump knows why these guys are doing this and understands, but when push comes to shove, they will back him...
If by “unabashedly manly” you mean, “queer as a three-dollar football bat”, then yeah, he is.
The Assie speaks.
