Risks growing as diplomatic efforts remain stalled and Iran threatens unrestrained retaliation
DUBAI—America’s Gulf allies are steeling themselves for a heavy U.S. bombardment of Iran that they expect to trigger a vicious cycle of retaliation against their own economic and civilian infrastructure as early as this week.
The Trump administration and Arab mediators are making a number of efforts to reach a negotiated end to the conflict. But the lack of progress paired with U.S. and Iranian threats of especially ferocious fighting if the conflict resurges are heightening concerns across the region.
President Trump has been leaning toward a large postelection attack that could target Iranian infrastructure and nuclear sites, but hasn’t decided whether to go ahead, The Wall Street Journal has reported. The president told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a call Saturday that he wanted to first give continuing diplomatic efforts a chance to succeed, people familiar with the call said.
Netanyahu pressed for strikes immediately after the U.S. midterms, the people said. Israel’s military has prepared attack plans and on high alert, one of the people said.
Axios earlier reported the details of the call between the two leaders. Netanyahu’s office didn’t respond to a request for comment. A U.S. official didn’t deny the contents of the call and said Trump has all Iran options available to him.

The U.S. has actual Space Fighters. I know - worked on them.
Iran has no chance. Idiot Muslim morons.
Oh and some terrifying ground things. Iran Mullahs idiots have no idea what Hell is about to rain on them. Oh wait it’s started.
And then the Israelis. They are no joke.
Now if Biden was President I’d be worried. But he’s not. We have Trump.
👍👍

I learned long ago to ignore what Trump says and focus on what he does.
You are insane, and should be laughed at from now on.🤡
You should be in an asylum.
Please, someone, give me an explanation of why a few weeks ago Trump said or implied there would be no further kinetic attacks on Iran “until after the midterms.”
Why?
It says, from the asylum.
Not the Gulf states, not the world at large, and not the majority of Americans.
Come on, you can do better than that.
