I don’t think it is unusual for people to have vices that they oppose making legal or acceptable.
In fact I think it is a huge flaw for someone to not oppose something in a public sense or for children, or as a parent, although they themselves can’t break from it.
Smoking, drinking, drugs, prostitution, homosexuality, being weak doesn’t mean you should now want that for everyone which is why parents try to hide their moral failings and addictions from their kids.
