A 4-year-old boy died after being attacked by a dog on Sunday afternoon in Louisa County.
On Sunday, Oct. 18, just after 4:40 p.m., deputies with the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1500 block of Jefferson Highway for reports of a dog attack.
As deputies were responding to the incident, the caller informed them that the dog was attacking a young child. Once on scene, deputies found a 4-year-old boy suffering from serious injuries while the dog continued to bite him.
According to officials, the deputies were forced to put the dog down in order to stop the attack. The dog was described as an American Bully.
Emergency crews took the boy to a designated landing zone for air medical transport, but he later died.
“The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family during this devastating time,” the release stated. “We ask the community to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve this unimaginable loss and to keep the child’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”

I hope they prosecute that vagrant woman living in a tent with two vicious dogs. That joggers life will never be the same.

I blame the Emotional Support Animal craze, most of which is fake. Used to be renting meant NO PETS. Now the numbers for animal attacks on human and animal on animal have exploded.
Landlords are helpless against these renters that say they “need” an emotional support wolf hybrid/pitbull mix. The government bureaucracies protect them.
ESA for the most part equals irresponsible pet ownership.
No one wants to interfere with a pitbull in full attack mode.

My veterinarian would disagree with you.
BTW, how would you decide which dogs are ‘pit bulls’ and which aren’t? Is that like deciding which guns should be banned because of their looks?
There is usually a “sweetest dog” quote somewhere in these stories. These dogs can be “sweet” right up until they kill someone. The breed should be exterminated.

Sad that humans never learn lessons from the past. It breaks my heart. Is this the price we must pay for purposefully living with distempered animals?
Don’t stop with this forum...be sure to contact the family of that 4 yr old boy, tell them it’s best to err on the side of the pit bull.
