Ford has a Mustang ute sitting in its Experimental Vehicle Building. I'd much rather see it in my driveway.

Despite being a die-hard DIY type with more ongoing projects than a film studio, I’m not what you’d call a “truck guy.” I appreciate them for their capabilities, but I’ve never really felt compelled to carve out driveway space for one. I’m a bit too high on horsepower and handling chops to get excited about big, practical pickups. But a ute, like this one-off Ford Mustang with a factory-engineered bed? In the immortal words of the sultan of Hatay, I even like the color.
In fact, this machine looks suspiciously similar to a Mustang GT350 R I drove several years ago. It could very well be; prototypes and press vehicles are often consigned to the crusher after their jobs are done. By comparison, giving one to some metal shop apprentices seems like a stay of execution.
The project gave apprentices the opportunity to hone their skills on their own concept vehicle. In place of the Mustang’s rear seat and ample trunk, there’s a surprisingly large pickup bed (parts of which were lifted from a production Ranger, Ford says). The students even fashioned the rear panel of the trunk into a makeshift tailgate, which you can see open here.

So it’s basically a Ute? The one I always wanted was the Shoebox Ford ute.
Does it come with a gun rack?
Is there enough room for a Clintonian astro-turf bed liner?
Just to be clear, you want a pick up truck that you cant fit a 2x4x6 into and wont clear a curb without tearing up the fender trim. But it looks cool... LoL.
Does many things but none of them well.
Shades of the 396 c.i. El Camino SS.
Essentially a mini-Ranchero.
Revoke his man-card.
Bingo! But hey, it looks cool—but that won’t even buy you a cup of coffee.

Rather a 4 x 8 flat of drywall with the tailgate down.
My friend had a 69 SS El Camino with 4 on the floor. You could get the SS option on the horse. Very rare. He kept sandbags in the back for balance and traction.
Now build a pickup that looks like a Mustang and I’d buy the hell out of that thing. But it would have to be an extended cab. Not necessarily a four-door like a crew cab.
You can get an F150 with the Mustang Coyote V8 in it. Mine does, along with 3.73 gears, Cold air intake, and dual after cat exhaust pipes.

Subaru Brat?
Nowadays with the 4-5 foot bed on the “trucks”....they look like very tall 4 door luxury sedans with a trunk lid missing. I think the 1962 chrysler new yorker sedans had trunks almost as big.
Make a regular 2-door pickup truck with a full bed, and you’ll get my interest ...
That’s what I was thinking.
Forget about old Dodge Rampage, did ya?
It had all sorts of custom new ideas, but was still instantly recognizable.
