7 mystery coffins containing human remains found at North Dakota governor’s residence

Seven ancient coffins containing human remains — including a toddler’s — were mysteriously discovered near the North Dakota’s governor’s residence by archaeologists, state officials confirmed.

The caskets and an empty wooden box were found while contractors were performing security upgrades at the Bismarck property and resulted in a months-long excavation process, according to the state Office of Management and Budget.

The remains appear to be that of two women, two men, two teenage boys and one toddler, People magazine reported.

The shocking discovery was made in the area of what was Bismarck’s first cemetery from 1873 to 1877, but many of those burials had since been reinterred to nearby St. Mary’s Cemetery and Fairview Cemetery in the 1880s, according to the Bismarck Monitor.

“They had thought in the 1880s that they had exhumed everybody,” State Historical Society of North Dakota spokesperson Kara Haff told The Bismarck Tribune.

“There’s an article that says ‘we’ve moved everybody but two, and we expect that work to be done within the next week.’”

“Ancient?”

FWIW thanks to STNG’s “A Fistful of Datas,” I personally refer to that section of history and geography as “The Ancient West.”

Well while someone knew where all the bodies were buried, it is likely they are also dead.

Saw Poltergeist for the first time about a month ago as I binge watch horror movies by the dozens. Cheers me up from reading political news.

RE: The caskets and an empty wooden box were found....
Let’s hope someone else opened that wooden box.

Movie (2012) The Possession.
“The story, based on the 2004 Los Angeles Times article “A Jinx in a Box?” by Leslie Gornstein, is about the allegedly haunted dybbuk box.”

This is the only Jewish based version I’m aware of, of the Exorcist type demonic possession, detailed in books.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJOtVGmGz6s

In the ‘making of’ featurette details, like the first Exorcist filming events, bad things that happen during the filming. That LA Times writer thinks people who look up the “dybbuk” demon online are being watched and some re haunted after just looking it up.

And not very mysterious either seeing as it used to be a cemetery.

“They had thought in the 1880s that they had exhumed everybody,”

I guess everybody doesn’t mean every body.

There was an episode of “Star Trek Next Generation” where Lt. Worf and his son went to the Hollow Deck on the Enterprise where a hi-tech version of Deadwood circa 1880’s was the Hollow Deck program created by Lt. Worf’s son, with the help of Lt. Barclay (not a character in this episode, but he was on other episodes).

Lt. Worf was the sheriff in the town. Counselor Troi was a “mysterious stranger” named Durango.

Counselor Troi called that time period “the Ancient West.”
She said she became fascinated by that era when her father read her Western stories as a girl.
The series is set roughly 400 years in the future so from her perspective, the “Old West” would be ancient.

Meanwhile, the ship’s computer had a glitch, which caused members of an outlaw gang to take on the appearance of Commander Data, the android character in the series.

One of my favorite episodes of “Next Generation.”

Oh, thanks for the description, you mean there was a second Star Trek series made for TV?

Just kidding.

Mystery Coffins?
It sounds like a Game Show.
A combination of Life Insurance infomercials and the Dating Game for the “nearly but not yet” Dead.

So, they exhumed seven who could be anybody, and one who was a complete nobody.

“They had thought in the 1880s that they had exhumed everybody,”

I read that you can dig just about anywhere in Paris France and find human bones. That's because humans have lived there so long, burials over time have been just about everywhere.

Case closed, this is pretty common. The same thing happened in the town I grew up in. An old cemetery was moved in the late 1800s but some Graves were missed.

When is the NY Post finally going to be banned from Free Republic, now that its reporters have devolved into relying upon People Magazine as a valid news source?

They did love their westerns! Data was my favorite character.
