FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey resigned after one year on the job, according to The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and MSNOW.
Andrew Bailey had been overseeing election matters.
Last August, then-Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel tapped then-Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to serve as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI.
It is unclear why Bailey resigned.
Later Monday morning, Andrew Bailey thanked President Trump, AG Blanche and Kash Patel for the opportunity to serve in the FBI.
"I want to thank President Trump, AG Todd Blanche, and FBI Director Kash Patel for the opportunity to serve in the FBI. Under President Trump’s leadership, we have delivered historic results in our mission to Make America Safe Again," Bailey said.
"With great pride in what we have accomplished, I am announcing that I am stepping down to return to my family in Missouri. I am confident Director Patel will continue to reform the FBI, combat violent crime, defend the homeland, ensure strong organizational accountability, and restore public trust in this institution of excellence," Bailey added.

Yea, he was accomplishing so many ‘great’ things he decided to scurry like a rat.
I don't know if this guy would be considered a White Hat or a Black Hat but his resignation so close to the mid-terms makes me more nervous about the upcoming elections.
In other news, President Trump has announced that today is Monday and the Freerepublic Surrender Monkey Caucus immediately found this to be an opportunity to do its job of trying to surpress Republican enthusiasm.
My guess is that he was not doing his job on ‘election matters’ and was asked to resign - and allowed a respectable exit.
That’s what I’m thinking.
Some of them work for the admin, they do a specific job. Then they’re out. It’s probably a 60-80 hr work week away from their families. Pre agreed departure after job is done.
Bailey is a way above average guy. My bet is he wrapped up whatever task he had securing the election and he’s going home.
With President Trump’s calm demeanor and the pure nuttiness of the democrats, it is probably - well, just go vote.
And btw that chi com crack is no longer valid after the White House visit last week.
Bailey is resigning to go back to his family which he left to join with the FBI.

Being that he is from Missouri, he likely never intended to stay longer than necessary, and with midterms around the corner there’s not much reason to. Most Missourians are very fond of their home and couldn’t stand to live in or around the viper pit that is Washington DC for long, certainly not years, especially if they have family.
So much for draining the swamp.....
