One FPV attack this month injured several people at a supermarket, leaving the floor stained with blood.
Another ploughed into the upper floors of a government building downtown.
“I heard it coming and we had to hide in a shop when it exploded,” said Julia Sologub, 31.
“It used to be just a problem for soldiers — now it’s one for civilians, too.”
Some Ukrainian shooting ranges now offer computer-simulated training courses for shooting down FPVs, using VR headsets.
Even with a shotgun, though, FPVs can be harder to hit than the wiliest grouse: they can weave and duck around, and some can travel at 100 mph or more.
Hitting one may also detonate the payload, which can be dangerous if it is already very close.
Indeed, anyone who shoots down an FPV drone with a shotgun has arguably bagged the kill of a lifetime.
At Sukhomlyn’s main gun store downtown, an FPV that one local shot down has pride of place on the wall — just as a lion’s head might have done in the days of big game hunting.
However, “Pip,” a US military volunteer serving with Ukraine’s Armed Forces, does not recommend trying to bag one as a trophy.
He was once chased by an FPV as he drove his vehicle from the battlefield, and remembers it being one of the most terrifying experiences of his time in Ukraine.

If they are close enough to shoot with a shotgun, you probably don’t have much time to make a decision, or time left to fininish saying “oh sh...”

Using Tungsten Super Shot loads in the shotguns would give them better odds. It about doubles the effective range.

I own a couple of these Turkish shot guns for self defense. they are very reliable. The breakin I believe was to fire 200 rounds. I did, and there were no malfunctions. The internal workings were dirty with a slime created by the gun oil and the spent powder, but the thing just kept on firing.
It’s max effective range is roughly 60 yards. The best ammo I found is double aught military or LEO shells as they deliver the tightest shot group.
I have a 20 round drum and quick firing the weapon will put out 180 double aught size balls in less a minute, which should easily take out a drone, assuming it’s close enough to hit. And if it’s that close, your likely toast anyway.
Any drone that low has probably already killed you before you could do anything.
Just get a bunch of redneck dove hunters from Georgia and they can take care of teh drones.............
Maybe equip some with full auto shotguns, if available. Some electronis to help with aiming might be good too.

What is the differnce between an automatic shotgun and a semi automatic shotgun? Is there? Or is the paper blowing smoke.
Any drone that low has probably already killed you before you could do anything.
The intent would be to shoot down the drones as they are traveling to locations past the shooter. The videos of Ukraian drones show them fying pretty low and in shotgun range.
Hitting the payload my cause problems, but proably better to have it explode in the air rather than the ground.
How is the recoil for a quick 20-round drum?
Somehow giving semi or auto shotguns to people living in fear of anything may not be a good idea. Even the thread mentions “mistakes” that caused some blood to run.
