Atlantic poised to break hurricane record as forecasters watch waters near US

The Atlantic hurricane season reaches its climatological peak this week, and AccuWeather meteorologist are monitoring just one area for potential development.

VIDEO AT LINK..........

As the climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season arrives this week, tropical activity remains largely suppressed due to an unusually strong El Niño. The one exception is off the southeastern coast of the United States, where AccuWeather hurricane experts have highlighted an area with a low chance of tropical development into the middle of the month.

"A slow-moving front will drift into the southeastern United States, leading to enhanced thunderstorm coverage. An area of tropical development may take shape offshore in a setup similar to how Edouard formed last week," AccuWeather Meteorologist Nicholas Arman said.

With waters warmer than the historical average across much of the Gulf and Atlantic, tropical threats like this warrant monitoring. Regardless of tropical development, an increase in flooding downpours and locally gusty winds can be expected with thunderstorms, creating hazards to beachgoers and boaters. The next name on the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season list is Fay.

The climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season occurs on Sept. 10.

So far this year, the Atlantic has produced five named storms, but none have strengthened into a hurricane.

Record territory approaching The unusually quiet Atlantic hurricane season is approaching record territory. During the satellite era (1960s - present), the latest date for the season's first Atlantic hurricane is Sept. 11, which occurred in both 2002 and 2013.

If no hurricane forms by Friday, the 2026 Atlantic season will mark the latest point in the satellite era without an Atlantic hurricane. The satellite era began in the 1960s, when the United States started monitoring weather from space.

The last Atlantic season without a hurricane occurred more than 100 years ago, in 1914. With atmospheric conditions expected to remain unfavorable for tropical development through at least the middle of September, the 2026 season will continue to be monitored for the possibility of approaching that historic benchmark.

One of the main factors limiting tropical activity has been disruptive winds known as wind shear, which can deter new storms from forming. Several plumes of Saharan dust have also moved westward across the Atlantic, bringing dry air that has inhibited tropical development.

"This less conducive environment is expected to persist through the remainder of the hurricane season. This can cause the hurricane season to be less active overall," AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alex DaSilva said.

Not to worry. Fewer hurricanes proves climate change just as much as more hurricanes does

Now, what is very cleverly “rewritten” as these breathless climate doomers discuss “record-breaking hurricane seasons” is .. .. .. Today’s hurricane season has set an all-time record LOW NUMBER of named storms and tropical depressions.

Clickbait headline. You might not suspect this is what it really meant:

The unusually quiet Atlantic hurricane season is approaching record territory. During the satellite era (1960s - present), the latest date for the season's first Atlantic hurricane is Sept. 11, which occurred in both 2002 and 2013.

So, in four days the Climate Change (tm) alarmists might have to find something else to panic about. Maybe a volcano, maybe Godzilla.

This is due to the exceptionally strong El Nino this year.......

Southern California has been affected by Hurricane Marie, located about 600 miles southwest of here. We got a lot of rain yesterday, and today, we’re having Texas-style weather—partly cloudy, hot and humid.

That map by the “experts” is hilarious. Pretty much covers the entire part of the country where the vast majority of hurricanes land. I could even predict that with a modicum of accuracy. :)

The depth of completely ignoring real established science of hurricane forecasting is exposed in this ridiculous article from “inaccurate-weather”. Please go to the free Saturday Summary by the Best there is, Joe Bastardi, at the Professional site: www.weatherbell.com. Scroll to the bottom for playback.
The total explanation of why the Atlantic will not see any landfall hurricane, due to a record El Niño blistering into Northern S America (just one of the reasons is explained and much more. These teevee types are dying for something to drive media ad revenues. Hope for disaster under the maybe chance of something breaking, more likely chance of Oct/nov late impact into New England . Record breaking powerful forces steering in the Atlantic.
Also go to Natl Hurricane Center….nhc.noaa.gov and look at the Pacific. There are 4 full hurricanes there as of 3 days ago . It’s not all water temp that’s certain. Weather wise guys is on WABC NY radio on Sundays iirc for weather heads. Signing off!

In the Atlantic it has only been Eduardo in gulf of America quickly downgraded to TS then. … a depression. Hawaii was hit by low CAT and said not in very many decades. Worldwide weather and water temp greatly affected Hunga Tonga (sic) and several other submarine volcanic seamounts erupting. And, like, last week Krakatoa (really had an event) within the Ring of Fire. You are quite right. It is a blessing to US Atlantic coast.

Just another attempt of the media and “experts” to predict the weather. As someone who has been through over 15 canes in my life, their pre-season predictions are equal to frog shit.

When we need them to help us (during an actual storm), they are distracted - and we rely on local news. When we don’t need them, they are filming our beaches pretending the wind is blowing.
