Mom of crazed Times Square killer questions why cops couldn’t grab her as she lunged at them with knives

The mother of the crazed Queens woman who killed a new mom and seriously wounded an elderly dad in a terrifying Times Square stabbing spree is questioning why cops didn’t just “grab” her daughter rather than fatally shoot her when she charged at them with knives.

Pamela Cisneros, 49, stabbed Erin Piacenti, 32, and Tak Kam, 68, Monday afternoon before cell phone video showed her being surrounded by police and threatening to kill them with a large knife in each hand.

People are rather ignorant on just how much damage can very quickly be inflicted upon the human body by a knife. Her questioning the police shooting the killer is rather typical judging from some comments I read on YouTube.

The notion that police could have overpowered the woman basically assumes that at least one of those officers would be willing to basically sacrifice himself for her to be brought down “safely”. Voluntary suicide is not a condition of police employment.

I know cameras are expensive, but I wonder if the photographer threw his camera and hit her in the back or head, that might have caused her to drop a knife or some kind of different outcome. One thing for sure,,I appreciate law enforcement going out every day all over this country, trying to protect the communities and facing dangerous situations!

Cops are wondering, with one dead new mother, why the family didn’t get them committed before she killed two people......

LE did deploy tasers first per the article and this effort had no effect on the killer. It is LE policy that if one officer deploys non-lethal force like a taser, another officer is backing up with lethal force like a gun aimed at the suspect. This suspect was displaying two deadly weapons and had already used them. There is no shoot to injure or shoot in the leg nonsense; all firearms training is aimed at center mass for many reasons. The mother is grieving and also stupid, but the media publishing her dumb comments to enflame the ignorant public is contemptible.

Perhaps a harpoon would have been more appropriate.

Who wants to catch a knife when you don’t have to.

In all fairness they very well could have tried. This is NYC I imagine the demand for mental health treatment is rather high and the wait long. That is not even considering finding a provider who takes non-private insurance (it looked like the family was not prosperous). It could also be she was receiving treatment but the choice of medication was not working.

Someone on the news yesterday said had there been Mamdani approved social workers in place of the NYPD the social workers would have been stabbed to death in that incident.

True.

In Michigan there was a case in Washtenaw County in 2024 where a man was yelling and slashing with a butcher knife in his kitchen against his wife and others. Police finally shot him as he lunged at one with the point of the blade near his face.
Outcome? A new civilian review board was formed to intimidate police after the major intersection was blocked by a sitdown protest from woke types that went on for hours.
Board now says you have to try first to call in social workers or psychological counselors before taking action after de-escalation verbal attempts fail.

All of those things are possible and if she had ranted at the system that let her deranged offspring out I would be cheering her on.

People who have adult mentally ill offspring are in a tough spot because the current system does not allow them to be confined for their own safety and the safety of others.

No argument.

But she went after the people deranged offspring was attacking.

That is where my sympathy ends.

” people don’t understand ,is shooting someone in the leg, if the shot is in the right spot, it could cause someone to bleed out and die anyway.”

That’s why you gotta shoot ‘em in their pinky toe!

But seriously, people don’t usually consider that police officers are trained and supplied by the American taxpayer who has a legitimate right to expect the officers to protect themselves at all times. We paid for their training. We don’t own them but, in a way, they are ours. Aside fromn the fact that we obviously don’t want any to be hurt or killed, taxpayers have a vested interest in supporting the cops as they are a serious investment in safety and the public good.
In my opinion anyway.

Show this moron the Calibre Press video “Edged Weapons,” and let her talk to some of the cops who were victims of them.

I actually laughed when I saw that picture. Those are not "large" knives (at my house anyway), but even tiny knives are dangerous.
Even if I was on edge in the city, without her knives exposed I would not give that woman a second glance. On the plus side, anyone who saw the knives could easily out run her.

One article I read said that they had tased her, but it didn’t stop her, so they ended up shooting her. All these nutcases walking around. At least she’s dead, so no court can deem her too mentally ill to stand trial. They’re always too crazy to stand trial, but they weren’t too crazy to be out on the street menacing and killing people.
