Madison Vegan Fest is returning in September, celebrating sustainable living and plant-based food.
The free, family-friendly festival will be held at Lunney Lake Farm County Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 26.
Dozens of exhibitors are expected, including food vendors offering vegan baked goods, beverages and savory dishes. Gluten-free options also will be available.
Organizers expect more than 4,000 people to attend. The event welcomes both vegans and non-vegans.
Madison Vegan Fest has been held in Madison since 2011.

Q: How do you know if someone is vegan?
A: Don’t worry, they’ll tell you within the first 2 minutes of meeting them.
To: Diana in Wisconsin
Hopefully they are holding on a day where there won’t be a strong wind or else they will all blow away.

A: To prove it wasn’t chicken!

Probably won’t have to worry about gang shootings.

Fun things I do:
Ask a vegan what that means. *No harm to animals.*
Then ask them why they pretend to eat animals.

No animals were consumed, I’m sure.

I’ll be preparing some plant-based food later on. It was based on eating plants, so there you go.
I’m a second-hand vegan.

MY neighbor Kathryn is up early every day and walks 5 - 6 miles before breakfast. She’s here in our senior complex. Moves like a teenager. does’t have a wrinkle. She came over for coffee one morning but brought her own herb teabag.
She just a few years younger than I am but looks like my daughter. And people I know fairly well think I;m far younger than I am.
Nevertheless, I’m considering a few weeks on a vegan diet to see how I feel. I never eat beef or pork anyway and threw out my salt shaker three years ago after a little heart scare..

LOL. No. Thanks.
My family got me a tomahawk steak for my birthday.
Looked like this.

Fed all of us - and the dogs got the bone.

These kinds of events are fun to walk down the vender aisles carrying a barrel of KFC and munching on a drumstick:

It wouldn't be complete without a booth for P.E.T.A....
(People Eating Tasty Animals).
Another thread just posted the average price per pound of ground beef June 2026: $6.83, Up 11.5% from 2025 and nearly 25% from 2024.
Reminds me of the old joke about the three-legged pig, except the three-legged cow is that way to force reduced meat consumption.

Vegan - word from one the the American Indian languages meaning “Poor hunter, eats dandelions and mushrooms”.
Males are testosterone-challenged. Hence the term “soy-boy”.

Nevertheless, I’m considering a few weeks on a vegan diet to see how I feel.
It would be interesting to find out how she gets protein, calcium and B vitamins. I am not saying it cannot be done, but it isn't easy. I do not think there is any place in the world where you can get all needed nutrients locally without meat, fish, or dairy products. Even the Jains from India do poorly when they move to the UK, in part because they breath in bugs in India without even knowing it. (and of course, most Indians are happy to drink dairy based Lassi and Ghee).
My wife tried a vegan diet when she was an active teenager. It made her weak and tired. A lot depends on yours genes. An Eskimo couldn't go to a plant diet. Northern Europeans (wife is Dutch and French by ancestry) also do not do well with it. American Indians who switched from buffalo to corn did no do well. (Nor did those who were forced to eat fry bread as a staple, but that is another story).
