The region prepares for another escalation after President Trump threatened new strikes
Iran fired a drone barrage into Kuwait on Saturday, hitting a U.S. ally following President Trump’s vow to intensify military strikes in a rapidly expanding Middle East war.
Kuwait said it shot down the Iranian volley, but the renewed fire added more tension to a region bracing for more conflict. Trump ordered the military to launch a fresh attack on Iran to bring Tehran to the negotiating table, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
U.S. embassies in the Middle East told Americans to consider departing the region. Airlines are extending flight cancellations to Arab Gulf states, which have spent decades building themselves up as international airport hubs. The U.S. warned airspaces may soon be closed.
Iran kept the Strait of Hormuz—once the passageway for 20% of the world’s crude oil—effectively closed. One ship near the strait was damaged after being struck by a projectile on Friday and another in a separate incident reported a nearby explosion, according to U.K. Maritime Trade Operations group, a security group affiliated with the British Navy.
Iranian and American leaders are both escalating their war rhetoric. President Trump said Friday during a televised cabinet meeting that the U.S. “will be hitting them very hard.”
“At some point, they’re going to say, ‘We just can’t take it anymore,’” Trump said.

My point was once of practicality. They are not going to have an "Aha" moment no matter how much proof in front of them. You can't stop an ideology no matter how flawed that ideology may be.
Wonder if the reason he has been looking sort of sad and has been quieter than usual is because he sincerely wanted to avoid loss of lives in Iran, and among our armed forces, by the snake bitten losing pursuit of peace by negotiated settlement instead of war.
May God watch over him, his loved ones, his supporters and our armed forces.
RE: ...You can’t defeat an ideology...
You’re right of course but we can minimize the threat substantially as Israel did in the 1948, 1967 and 1973 wars.
Iran’s territory used to be the site of a large contingent of Zoroastrians and some Jains. Not so much now (but a few remain).
Who is resupplying them with drones?
I guess Europe has the answer. Just allow Muslims to invade and take over. That way you avoid a religious war.
“He won’t get on Rushmore if he doesn’t put the muzzies in their place.”
To paraphrase Obama, he’ll have more flexibility after the elections.
That’s not what I am saying at all. We can and should deter them from even thinking they can dominate us. But it looks like bombing hasn’t taken them out and nobody wants to put boots on the ground because that would be disastrous.
Oh I agree 100% they aren’t going to have an “Aha” moment. I just meant discrediting them in front of the world.
Sunni Arabs (Kuwait) vs Shia Persians (Iran). This has been going on for a thousand years.
Nah!!
AS Eli Wallach said, When you need to shoot, shoot!”
Just continue to bomb strategic targets, and barricade the IRGC in place with all supply lines cut off.
The Cavalry ain’t coming for them.
