I thought that NASA used to do this, all the time.
Better that something impact the Moon, than float around in space to impact the Earth or the next mission.
This sounds like a naive “rediscovery”, like NASA “finding” Camp Century in Greenland.

A bit pendantic, but the momentum of this rocket when it collides cannot be any number of newtons (or giganewtons). The newton is a unit of force, not momentum. The SI unit of momentum is newton-seconds. That’s because physically a force is change in momentum over time, so the force unit is the momentum unit divided by the time unit (seconds in SI).
