Sorry I thought I posted this in chat previously.

What ideas and hints do you have to make life easier and even more fun? Share the wealth?

I'll start.

Store cat food cans upside-down and it will come out easier.

Kill creepy crawlies with damp paper towel. Waggle your fingers on one side of the monster and grab it with the wet towel or tissues from the other side. It works.

Seek and Find God’s Truth and Love.

Out of Love for us and for our happiness, Jesus was scourged, suffered and died on the Cross for our sins so that we could be happy with Him in Heaven. Jesus restored our access to Heaven by His death for our sins.

The path will be hard on earth and few will find the narrow gate and choose to do His will and not follow the ways of the world.

Our happiness with God in Heaven will be much greater than any happiness on earth.

God’s Truth can be found in the Bible and the Mass and seven Sacraments with Faith, Hope and Charity by our Love of God and neighbor.

God’s Peace be with you.

My program is called ONE THING PER DAY.

In order to stay busy in retirement and since we are not wealthy so I cannot travel, I choose to set myself a task of doing ONE thing per day, after I get that one thing done, no matter how small or large the task, the rest of my time is mine to spend as I please. I build scale models and read in my down time.

It can be simple tasks, washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen, or doing laundry to more complex tasks like yard work or small construction projects, sometimes the tasks take all day, sometimes just an hour or so, but at the end of the year I have over 365 tasks done, a feeling of accomplishment and a pile of money saved because I do the vast majority of work on my own.

Splurge on a mattress and nice bedding.

But be sure to then launder your sheets with cold water. Otherwise, you'll bake the stains in.

Though, to be honest, I haven't had that problem since my teens.

* Cats and dogs.

Preferably parboiled. That conserves the nutrients!

Make your own wine. In about an hour from now Mr. GG2 and I will be enjoying some cheese and crackers with a glass of 2026 Chateau de GG2. A semi dry red wine with vanilla notes and a blackberry finish.

Made from 1 1\2 jugs of Welch’s grape juice, 4 ounces of sugar, 4 cloves, some crushed up red grapes from the produce section and one small container of blackberries. Add a cup of brewed black tea and a package of Fleishman active yeast and you’re good to go. Of course you need a 1 gallon Carlo Rossi glass container with a $3 airlock but its fun and rewarding.

And they said Edison and Tesla were clever inventors. Nothing like this achievement.

I have a clear plastic cup and a thin, flat plastic sheet, about the size of a greeting card, the kind of thing that used to come in a packet of pantyhose... I use it for spider removal. I just put the cup over the spider, and slide the sheet underneath it carefully, under their little legs, and then I can just pick the whole thing up and carry them outside and set them free without hurting them. I realized that the squish was what horrified me. I don’t like to kill things. So I’ve lost a lot of my fear of spiders and bugs, because while they’re under the clear cup, I can hold them up to the light and get a good look at them. Sometimes the spiders put their front legs on the cup and seem to be getting a good look at me too. Then I take them outside and find a new home for them. It’s actually quite fun.

RE: laundry....

George Carlin comedy LP in the early 1970s.

Skit of a woman’s voice as a mother praising a heavy duty laundry detergent in an ad.

“Just look at my teenager’s sheets. Look at all those stains. Sometimes I think he’s doing it on purpose.”

Instead of buying food, just go store to store where any kind of food is sold and eat all the free samples.

Don't eat your last meal of the day less than 3 hours before you go to sleep. If you are up against that deadline, just skip that last meal, go to sleep save the appetite for the morning. It is easier than it seems, especially after you brush your teeth.

Eat no more than two meals a day within an 8-hour window. Eating only one meal a day is a lot easier than it seems, especially if you have a sedentary office job. Just drink plenty of water.

Eliminate sugary drinks (including fruit juices) from your diet. You'd be surprised how tasty seltzer water with squeezed lemon / lime is. No sugar or high fructose corn syrup but it tastes "sweet" without all of the junk. Don't 'drink your calories' if you are looking to knock off a few pounds.

If you get "hungry" in the middle of the night or at any point for that matter, but you are trying to be disciplined, just brush your teeth or rinse with mouthwash. It will send a signal to your brain that your "eating window" is closed.

Vinegar can clean just about anything. Add some baking soda to the mix when cleaning greasy pans or range hood vents. Just beware of the reaction of mixing the two together.

Pouring the vinegar / baking soda mix down a slow drain followed by very hot water will clear most clogs.

Insects don't seem to like peppermint or cinnamon. Add a few drops of these essential oils around areas in the kitchen or anywhere you notice pest activity. Along those lines, the Terro brand ant baits are the best I have ever seen at eliminating ants. It is really just borax, water and something sweet to attract the ants. They lap it up and take it back to the nest to feed the colony and the borax causes their stomachs to explode.

A mixture of liquid dish soap, borax and water in a spray bottle is a great wasp killer. Dries out their exoskeleton.

Vinegar is an excellent rust eliminator and a non-chemical weed killer in the 30% acidity available at most home improvement stores. Just be careful as it can be caustic and it could also kill your flowers or grass.

Leave your clean clothes in the laundry basket and just use them from the basket. HA

Don’t fold your towels until you hang them back up in the bathroom after laundering.

Put clean sheets directly back on the bed after taking them out of the dryer.

These hints will make your life a tiny bit easier, probably no more fun. :)
