CNBC’s ranking of the 10 worst states to live in 2026—all of them Republican-led—has drawn criticism from conservatives.
The broadcaster gave each state a Quality of Life score based on factors including crime rates, air quality, healthcare access, worker protections and civil rights laws. The Quality of Life category was one of 10 in the outlet’s annual America’s Top States for Business study.
Tennessee was ranked the worst state to live in after receiving a score of just 64 out of 290.
CNBC noted that Tennessee had one of the highest violent-crime rates in the nation, citing FBI statistics, as well as the third-highest drug-death rate.
The broadcaster also cited state laws restricting transgender people’s bathroom access, limits on local anti-discrimination ordinances and Governor Bill Lee’s designation of June 2026 as “Nuclear Family Month.” June is widely recognized as Pride Month across the United States.
CNBC’s bottom 10 states for quality of life, from lowest-scoring upward, were:

I read the Tennessee part of this story as I now reside in Tennessee. It seems the biggest complaint CNBC are the laws stating perverts must use the public bathrooms based on their birth sex.
I’m in Illinois, owned by the democrats, and I can certainly say BULL💩!

1. Demographics. Few of “them”.
2. Everybody is packing. Armed society is a polite society.

So the “worst” states to live in are generally to ones receiving the most influx of people moving from blue states?
The ranking of these 10 Republican led states as the worst in is good news, for it helps keep out the rif raf.
Several years back I worked at Minot AFB where some of the airmen repeatedly trashed North Dakota. I agreed with them and told them to tell all their friends back home.
The whole point of this survey and article is to inject a large dose of smug into leftists. Nothing else. Apart from us being aware of it now we can carry on with our lives.
If that study will keep liberals from moving to “The 10 worst states”, then GREAT!

There is so much going into many of the news media stories that it’s hard to know what to trust any more. I have personally seen stories about high crime areas where I would say there is very little crime to my knowledge. It all depends on who is reporting it & how they are reporting it, I guess. And what their agenda is for doing so. We need to know if some of it is just traffic violations or what? Years ago, I was personally interviewed by a local newspaper reporter. It was NOT about crime, just a local event, but anyway when the story came out in the news,it was all backwards from what I had told the reporter. It was all on-the -scene stuff I had reported; nothing vital.
It’s all good! They just gave Christians, conservatives, patriots, heterosexuals, native-born Americans and even many Republicans a road map of places to go and to avoid!
When I was starting out in the 1970s, many of my friends in my city were Democrats, so I tolerated what was then a much milder form of left-leaning. One day I sent a $5.00 check to the ACLU because I truly did want equality of opportunity for deserving individuals.
The ACLU sent back a postcard listing all their bleeding-edge lefty “causes”—wow, what an eye-opener! I became a born-again conservative on the spot! That $5 investment has enriched my life more than I could ever imagine.
