I always heard it's because the GOP has reverence for the office of POTUS, regardless of party.
That is NOT true of the dems by any stretch of the imagination.
Look how the GOP rolled over for KJB vs the dems going after Bork for example.
And KJB was in no way qualified for SCOTUS.
Bork definitely was.
Even if the dems didn't "like" his politics, he was a good candidate.
I disagree with all your points.
“Lindsey Graham: 43%
Mitch McConnell: 44%
Bill Cassidy: 55%
Chuck Grassley: 56%
John Cornyn: 54%
John Thune: 51%”
1. Thune is up for reelection and will probably return.
2. I would replace him on the list with Thom Tillis: 49%. He is retiring.
3. Grassley is 92 years old but hasn’t mentioned retirement.
Lindsay Graham was a staunch defender of Israel, the only Mideast democracy. I am. too so I will miss the passing of Lindsay. I have never took note of all the scurrilous things written about him on FR.
Correction:
Thune is up for reelection in 2028.
I suspect Lindsey might've been one of the few gay men who practiced celibacy and that's why there wasn't much smoke to look for fires. And if so, good on him.
His greatest accomplishment was dying after 35 years in politics with a measly net worth of only somewhere between $1.5 - $3 million (damn near poverty compared to many of his colleagues).
He seemed to be in it not to get rich but simply for the love of the game.
In terms of conservative politics, he will not be missed.

But in general, Graham was a moderate-liberal Republican, a la his mentor John McCain.””””
Thanks for the info. And I agree that Graham and McCain had similar political traits.
And that brings to mind Marco Rubio. Who if recall correctly joined with Graham and McCain in the attempt to grant amnesty to the illegals.
When Rubio was a FL State Politicians, he was well-respected by the FL conservatives. So much so, FL conservatives got him elected US Senator in 2010.
Then for the next 15 years Senator Rubio became a pretty squishy conservative.
Beginning in 2025 Rubio is back to being the darling of conservatives in his current Secretary of State role.
This illustrates the untrustworthiness of far too many politicians.
This is how you can tell liberals don’t k ow and “MAGA” republicans. They think Graham was loved when he was tolerated for his vote. Kinda like Mitch.
He seemed to be in it not to get rich but simply for the love of the game.

I thought the reason for his position in favor of any war, against anybody, any time, for any reason was getting money from the war industry.
good riddance.
this warmonger has never seen a war he didn’t want to get into.
The world is a safer place now that Graham is gone
.
He sided with Fauci over Trump. He defended Joe Biden every chance he could. He criticized the small Gun charges brought against Hunter Biden. He was Vaccine crazy and wanted more Omnibus Covid Woke Spending. He sided with the Bidens over the Laptop - saying it was Fake and criticized Giuliani. He said after they raided Mara-a-Lago - no one is above the law. He fist-bumped Kamala Harris on the Senate Floor after she was selected. He refused to issue Subpoenas over Spy-Gate and Russia. He pushed through Joe Biden’s judges. He criticized Republicans critical of Barack Obama. One of his best friends is Justice John Roberts. He got a black eye partying on the Boat of a Democrat at a large party during the Lockdown when he was for Mask Mandates. He said he trusted Comey after Comey went after Trump. He said that he would get the FBI a budget increase - any increase - as high as they wanted, no questions asked. He told Capitol Police to shoot Jan 6th protesters on sight. I could go on and fill up the hard drive. The Media loved him because he was always there to take out a Conservative.
I expect he’ll posthumously come out of the closet and become a lib hero.
Why does this "Liberty Score" end with his votes in 2022 and has nothing recent?
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) voted in line with Donald Trump's positions approximately 86% of the time during his presidency, and maintained strong alignment through 2025 with an overall congressional support score of about 86.1%
There is a time and place for everything. Today is not the day to talk about Graham’s voting record. Give it a day or two.
.
Plus the Judges he passed for the Dems and Deep State will be destroying the country for the next 25 years!
Absolutely!
Sometimes CR scoring on individual bill votes is off.
They do not look at the whole bill if “Conservatives” say it is a “good’ bill. Meanwhile although that may be generally true, there can be elements in the bill that are not so good and should be opposed, and some good rep may vote no for that reason. But Liberty takes the hype of the bill and scores any no vote negatively
Wonder why they only show votes and rating for LG back to 2022.
Lady Linda was the worst of the worst.
clutch the pearls elsewhere.
Linda was the worst type of political opportunist. Totally lacking any principles. He’d sellout his own grandmother for a vote and a buck. He loved sending others to fight and die.
The posterchild for what is wrong with American politics.
