Tesla Q2 2026 deliveries jump 25% to 480,126, crushing Wall Street predictions
YouTube ^ | 07/03/2026 | The Electric Viking

In this video, The Electric Viking details Tesla's record-breaking Q2 2026 performance. Despite broader market skepticism, Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant 25% year-over-year increase and crushing Wall Street's consensus estimates by roughly 74,000 units (0:13-0:28).

Key takeaways from the report:

Strong Rebound: This quarter marks Tesla's strongest second quarter ever and the first year-over-year growth following two straight years of decline (0:36-0:47).

Production vs. Deliveries: Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles while producing 451,758, indicating that they successfully cleared out excess inventory (0:51-1:03).

Model Mix: Deliveries were heavily dominated by the Model Y and Model 3, which combined for 467,762 of the total deliveries. Other models (Model S, Model X, Cybertruck, and Semi) accounted for only 12,364 units (1:11-1:43).

Energy Storage: The company also saw a 40% increase in energy storage deployment, reaching 13.5 gigawatt-hours compared to 9.6 GWh in Q2 2025 (5:01-5:13).

Competitive Context: While BYD remains ahead in global EV sales with 557,000 deliveries, The Electric Viking notes that BYD's sales declined 8% year-over-year, whereas Tesla's grew by 25%. This has narrowed the gap between the two automakers from over 220,000 units to approximately 77,000 (5:39-6:18).

The video concludes by attributing much of Tesla's success to the continued demand for the Model Y and anticipation for the three-row variant, which is expected to further drive sales in the coming months (2:17-2:29; 8:08-8:22).

This didn't last very long. With record unit sales, the "takedown" only took themselves down. The idiots were out squawking in front of the Stanford Shopping Center Tesla showroom when Musk was leading DOGE. They got over their snit and started buying Tesla cars in record volumes.

Right!

While I despise being forced as a citizen to subsidize something like EVs, I have no problem with selling things to people who are willing to pay their hard-earned dollars to buy. Good for them, good for Elon Musk, and good for the US!

Happy 4th of July!

People who drive Tesla are in love how it performs.

It’s only a matter of time until all the states put a wheel tax on EVs (and hybrids, too, if they’re smart). Lets see how loyal the Tesla tifosi are once the free ride is over.

Tesla has a very popular six car show room in my local upscale indoor shopping mall.

The Tesla show room is located directly across from Tiffany Jewelers.

Did any other electric vehicle brand show an increase in sales?

1. Teslas work best with the most charging stations.
2. Tesla is not going to make a claim about a commitment to electric vehicles and then bail out when the tax breaks and regulations change.
3. Teslas are built from the ground up as EV only.
4. Tesla does not have the legacy burden of the existing automotive manufacturing production.
5. Tesla has been selling EVs for something like 20 years. The batteries last ok. The cars have their quirks. They are not cheap. The selling/servicing model works.
6. Tesla is not competing with its own customer base.

Exactly right on subsidies, the EV market is mature enough to end any subsidies.

I’m an ICE vehicle person, but I’m also a “free to choose” & let the consumer decide individual.

No, most major EV makers did not increase sales in Q2 2026 (YoY); results were mixed, with notable winners and losers amid a challenging overall market.

Key Highlights from Q2 2026:
Tesla: Strong rebound — delivered 480,126 vehicles (all EVs/BEVs), up ~25% YoY. This beat expectations and was a record for Q2, driven by recovery in Europe and strong Model 3/Y performance. Production was lower, helping clear inventory.

However, BEV sales were down ~8% YoY (though up sharply from Q1 and supported by record overseas exports).

GM: EV sales down 33% YoY; overall U.S. sales down 4.2%. Weak demand for its EVs contributed.

Ford: EV sales (e.g., Mustang Mach-E) significantly down (e.g., ~31% drop noted in some reports); overall sales down ~10%. Ford has been pulling back on some EV efforts.

I’m not interested in owning a Tesla or any other EV, but I’d love to see my Tesla stock go back up. I made a lot of money on it 5 years ago, and have held on to it through thick and thin.

I also bought SpaceX at $155 - I guess I’m betting on Elon.
