As the Pentagon stays quiet, AP reconstructs a US strike that killed over 100 Iranian children

JERUSALEM (AP) — It was the deadliest reported strike in the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran. Most of the victims were children.

In almost any other conflict, these haunting truths would be seared into national memory. Yet more than 120 days since at least one U.S. missile struck an Iranian primary school, there remains no final accounting of what happened.

The Trump administration has yet to directly accept the blame or formally release findings of a Pentagon investigation into the bombing, even though the military possessed evidence almost immediately that the site of the school had been struck, a U.S. official with knowledge of the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss an ongoing investigation, told The Associated Press.

The AP has reconstructed the story of the attack, beginning in the schoolyard on the morning of Feb. 28, drawing from open-source information, video footage, human rights reports and interviews with researchers and civilians inside and outside Iran to reveal previously unreported details about the bombing in Minab, including the diversity of children killed.

Still, many details about the blast remain elusive, as a lack of information from the Pentagon and politicization of the attack by Iran’s theocracy have complicated independent reporting efforts. That has created an accountability vacuum, leaving the families of the victims without resolution. Among the mysteries remaining are the number of munitions that hit the school and a complete list of the dead.

When asked last week about the incident, President Donald Trump said he hadn’t read the Pentagon’s report and had seen nothing to make him believe the U.S. had carried out the attack.

“I don’t know that they’re ever....”

Did they mention the part about the deep state killing children and then blaming it on Trump?

If they don’t talk about the Muslim practice of using human shields, then it’s worth less than nothing.

Well if we had Mark Levin’s ways the headlines would be about US troop casualties mounting. So thanking God in the meantime and praying he never gets his way.

I watched an update about Ukraine and Russia yesterday. The tolls on both sides are staggering.

Here Ass Press. Here are your talking points....

what are the official Iranian positions on the US strike on the girls school

Iran officially blames the United States and Israel for a deliberate airstrike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh (or Shajareh Tayyebeh / Shajarah Tayyiba) girls' elementary school in Minab, southern Iran (Hormozgan Province), on February 28, 2026.

Key Elements of Iran's Official Position

Iran's government, state media, and senior officials have consistently described the incident as follows:

  • Perpetrators: A joint or coordinated US-Israeli aggression using American missiles (often specified as Tomahawk cruise missiles). Iran rejects any notion of it being accidental.
  • Nature of the Attack: Deliberate, calculated, and intentional targeting of civilians during school hours. Officials emphasize it was a "double-tap" or phased strike on a clearly civilian site packed with young girls (ages ~7–12).
  • Casualties: Iranian authorities report over 165–175 killed (mostly schoolgirls, plus teachers and others), with dozens more injured. Some statements cite 168 schoolchildren. Many bodies were reportedly trapped under rubble or badly mutilated.
  • Legal Characterization: A war crime, crime against humanity, and violation of international humanitarian law. Iran has highlighted it as one of the "six grave violations" against children (killing/maiming and attacks on schools).

Key Statements from Iranian Officials

  • Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi: Called it a "calculated, phased assault" and "deliberate and intentional." He rejected US claims of miscalculation or "incident," accusing the US of contradictory justifications and demanding accountability at the UN Human Rights Council. He linked it to broader alleged intent and compared it to other conflicts.
  • President Masoud Pezeshkian: Described it as a "savage act" that "adds another black page" to the aggressors' record. He said attacks on schools and hospitals target a nation's future and violate humanitarian principles. Iran "will not remain silent."
  • Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei (or Baqaei): Blamed "US & Israel" for indiscriminately targeting cities, including the school as a "blatant crime." Called it an "unforgivable egregious war crime" involving "168 Iranian little angels" that "must not go with impunity."
  • Health Ministry and Other Officials: Referred to an "enemy's missile strike" on a girls' elementary school, with many "young child martyrs."
  • UN Statements (Iran's ambassadors): Accused the US of committing war crimes, detailed the strike on the school (e.g., 168+ children killed while in class), and called for full accountability. Iran invoked self-defense rights while condemning civilian targeting.

Iran has held mass funerals, used the incident in state media/propaganda, and pushed for international condemnation (e.g., at the UN). They reject any US/Israeli suggestions that the school was linked to military sites (noting it was a functioning civilian school).

This remains Iran's consistent public stance as of the latest reports. Independent verification of exact casualty figures and full context is limited due to the ongoing conflict and restricted access, but Iran's position is uniform across government channels.

sad. war is hell. obviously we don’t target children. sadder is the 350000 kids trafficked in under Joey Boy- via an intentional policy - lost by Becerra. 147000 have been found by this administration - wish this abomination was bothering Joe’s, Mayorkas’ or Becerra’s conscience. 103,000 still lost and liable to be enduring horrendous treatment.

Wait til AP finds out about the thousands of French and Belgian civilians killed by Allied bombing in WWII. Would it have been better to let Hitler have his way? How about when thousands were killed by Bill Clinton’s high-altitude bombing of Serbia? I don’t recall AP grieving over that.

The killing of the Iranian schoolchildren was horrible, and shouldn’t have happened. But this type of thing happens in warfare almost without exception, and it is only in recent years that major effort is made to reduce bystander casualties. The question is whether the war was justified by concerns about Iran’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

The U.S. has a duty to protect its own national interests.

The good people of Iran have a duty to overthrow their corrupt overlords.

President Trump has substantially weakened the mullahs to the point where they are no longer a threat to the U.S.

Now it is up to the Iranian people to free themselves.

It was in a Republican Guard military base, and was formerly used by the Republican Guard for military purposes.

And who keeps saying we did it? I've seen video showing an errant Iranian missile did it.

Why do you feel the need to drag this up? It seems contrary to the benefit of the country to stir up shit like this.

This is how the media does it. When they want to highlight a particular narrative (eg. "Look how evil Americans are.") they keep repeating the story over and over again.

When something happens that's counter narrative (eg., "Trans-shooter murders four kids.") it is buried and never heard from again.

I recall seeing a video of a miss fired Iranian missile striking that school. Next question, what sort of people place a school close to a legitimate military target?

Did the AP interview Iranians who claimed that the bodies were moved there from a morque that held IRGC victims and laid them out for display? At least 5 parents of children there said their kids did not even attend that school.
