People are allowed to poison themselves with junk food AND you have to pay for it!
At least that's the latest from our federal courts.
A federal judge on Monday blocked the Trump administration from allowing five states to ban the purchase of sugary drinks and candy with food stamps.
The decision is a major setback for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" movement, known as MAHA, which is focused on minimizing the consumption of ultraprocessed foods to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
Sorry, taxpayers must continue to fund the Kool-Aid pineapples.
Judge Amy (the person apparently in charge of the country) demands it!
US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the District of Columbia ruled that the US Department of Agriculture lacked the authority to approve state waivers in pilot projects in Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia.
In their waivers, the states sought to change the federal definition of food to one that restricted certain products. The bans differed somewhat in each state, with all limiting the purchase of sugary drinks, such as soda and energy beverages, and some also restricting candy. The limits applied to all SNAP recipients, with no exceptions allowed.

Its just the principle....they’re just trying to be the biggest PITA as possible.
That is not in the United States Constitution.
“Personally I don’t care where food stamp recipients get their calories from - healthy or not is their choice.”
We’re obviously dealing with someone who makes bad choices in life. If I wasn’t on the hook to pay their healthcare, they could eat razor blades for all I care.
Should I buy the Twinkies or the Moon Pie? I can’t decide.
You’d be surprised (maybe not) at the foreign grifter scum who are getting tens of thousands of dollars at our expense, using the EBT scam to buy soft drinks and candy bars, and selling them on sidewalk kiosks. The fraud and abuse is staggering.
Why can’t we have some conservative district judge somewhere passing pronouncements? How would the USSC rule if a judge had the fortitude to say “It’s not in the constitution, so it’s up to the states or the people”
Because the rest of us earn actual money and aren't receiving government vouchers intended to prevent people from starving. If we want to give vouchers that are only good for buying potatoes, that's fine because it isn't even their money in the first place.
“Yo. Ding dong. Yo!”
The Jackson ho AGAIN. We’ve got to do something about all these Feral, angry female, America-hating skanks trying to run the country. None of these bags and fags were elected. It’s time for them all to go. Defund the Judicial branch. It wasn’t intended to be like this with all the former Omelette Warehouse waitresses and Taco Shack waitress making all these idiot decisions.
Of course good food is better than poor food, but dictating what people can eat, even if we are paying for it, is socia engineering.
“Beer is liquid bread.” Falsely attributed to Martin Luther, but true nevertheless!
Finally, some common sense being applied here. Thank you!
Carl’s Jr and McDonalds hit hardest?.
EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) cards need to be isued by weight of holder?.
Happy health to you ensues?.
I agree, the government shouldn’t engage in social engineering, like taking my money to pay for someone else’s food.
Why not fire 535 legislators and hand over control of the federal government to 890 Article III judges (those appointed for life by a President).
Save a lot of money!
But what about Meth?
Everyone in Tacoma needs it more than food.
It’s spending... authorized by Congress. 100% constitutional.
That said, we have a long history of having executive branch agencies writing the rules of implementation of such programs. I highly doubt original legislation was so detailed as to prevent HHS from making these kinds of low-level decisions.
AND you have to pay for their medical care when they get chronic diseases at 30 from their junk food diet...
Your experience was a nice one, a reminder of true things.
