People are allowed to poison themselves with junk food AND you have to pay for it!
At least that's the latest from our federal courts.
A federal judge on Monday blocked the Trump administration from allowing five states to ban the purchase of sugary drinks and candy with food stamps.
The decision is a major setback for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" movement, known as MAHA, which is focused on minimizing the consumption of ultraprocessed foods to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
Sorry, taxpayers must continue to fund the Kool-Aid pineapples.
Judge Amy (the person apparently in charge of the country) demands it!
US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the District of Columbia ruled that the US Department of Agriculture lacked the authority to approve state waivers in pilot projects in Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia.
In their waivers, the states sought to change the federal definition of food to one that restricted certain products. The bans differed somewhat in each state, with all limiting the purchase of sugary drinks, such as soda and energy beverages, and some also restricting candy. The limits applied to all SNAP recipients, with no exceptions allowed.

Beans, Rice, Cheese, Powdered Milk should be available in boxes for people who qualify. No food stamps.
Trump is challenged every single order or action
They judge shop and win 2/3 rds
Then between appellate and supremes Trump prevails 90 plus %
It’s just harassment and slowing him down a bit
This will be vacated
I suppose that you could, since it has lots of carbohydrates and water, but not much else..........
Some of the DARK BEERS in Germany are called Liquid Bread they have so many calories!...........
Last week I found a SNAP card on the floor in my grocery store.
For a few seconds there it was all I could do to resist throwing it in a trash can.
Even as I consider myself a Christian man I struggle sometimes.
After the urge passed I knew I had to do the right thing and turn it in.
As I self checked out I asked for a manager.
I told him I found the card and gave it to him.
He said “great, we have someone right here looking for it” and returned it.
As it turned out, the owner was not who I expected it to be.
Looking back on it now I’m a little ashamed I even considered pitching it in the trash for even a second.
Why the hell NOT? Its OUR money. We GAVE it to them. It comes with CONDITIONS. There are already MANY things that they can not buy with food stamps.
Federal Restrictions (National Baseline)
Nationally, you cannot purchase the following with SNAP EBT cards:
Hot & Prepared Foods: Food that is hot at the point of sale (e.g., rotisserie chickens, deli food ready for immediate consumption, or restaurant/fast-food meals).
Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco: Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco.
Vitamins & Medicines: Anything with a “Supplement Facts” label, as well as over-the-counter medications and drugs.
Non-Food Items: Pet foods, household cleaning supplies, paper products (paper towels, toilet paper), hygiene products, and cosmetics.
Live Animals & Marijuana: Live animals (except live fish/shellfish) and foods containing controlled substances like CBD or cannabis.
So NOW will they also be able to buy all these things too?
Get a moral judge.
Then give them fentanyl.
Not only is the taxpayer footing the bill for all the junk food, but we’re also footing the bill for all of the resulting negative medical consequences.
Great point.
As I understand it, diabetes is rampant in the black community.

You know how they gat around that?
They purchase gift cards. That is why Walmart and Dollar stores have an entire
Wall of gift cards. What, you think the people on SNAP and other welfare programs are just the beacon for giving? They buy gift cards and either trade them for cash or just use them for banned items.
There is so much fraud in this country.
That is what food shelves and other private donations are for.
You have no idea what the Constitution is all about do you.
I do know that it is not about taking money from one person to give it to another. In fact, the constitution is very specific in what powers the federal gov't has and what powers it does not have.
There is nothing in the constitution about paying someone to take my money, pay another to decide what programs get that money, pay another to decide who deserves my money, excessive fraud, etc. until a small fraction of my money actually gets to the people who need it most.
Then they are allowing them to spend my money on unhealthy choices that make them fat and sick thus expecting me to pay for their healthcare with the same issues as above.
Nope, can't find any of that in the constitution.
Great judgement when you’re paying for both their food and healthcare.
You will care when you have to pay for their healthcare.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson serves on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and assumed senior status on May 1, 2023. Nominated by President Barack Obama in 2011.
Intersting side note:
Jackson was married to Darryl W. Jackson*, a lawyer and a senior Republican political appointee. He worked in the Office of Export Enforcement as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for George W. Bush in 2005 after leaving the Arnold & Porter firm. They have two sons, one of whom is Matt Jackson, who won 13 consecutive games on Jeopardy!, earning $411,612. While appearing on the trivia show, he said, “My mom is white, liberal and Jewish, and my dad is black, Christian and conservative.”
The saving grace is that she is 71 so unlikely to be appointed to the Supreme Court in the future.
* They divorced in 2013
Our money, our rules.
We should stop EBT/"food stamps" and go back to the system of distributing surplus food to those who need it.
One judge and it is meaningless. This will go to appeal and eventually reach the Supreme Court who for the most part understood the Executive Branch has oversight over things that fall under the Executive Branch.
Time to end food to not work program. Don’t work. Don’t eat. If you are working then there is no need to take the food off my table.
