ET: The Extraterrestrial, the titular alien is seen eating and drinking all manner of human foods and beverages from chocolates to tins of beer.
In reality, however, it is unlikely that an entity that lived and evolved on another world would be capable of consuming and digesting the same types of foods as we are.
Professor Jose Miguel Soriano del Castillo of the University of Valencia ,,,argues that dining on the same foods that humans eat would be highly risky for a visitor from another world and that their best bet would be to instead seek out the individual nutrients and raw materials of food such as water, nitrogen, salts and basic organic molecules.
As for what an alien might typically eat on its own planet - it's difficult to speculate because it depends entirely on the biology of the alien and the nature of its planet's atmosphere.
If we were ever in a position in which we had to provide food to an alien visitor, we would likely need a whole team of scientists and nutritionists to determine what it could and could not eat.
Feeding it the wrong thing - no matter how well-intentioned - could prove fatal.

“To serve man”.

I like the one where a couple wakes up in a bed in a strange house and don’t know how they got there. They have some vague recollections of something weird happening when driving in their car the previous night. No one is in the house. They walk out into a little town which is totally deserted. Turns out they had been abducted by aliens and are now the pets of a young alien girl.
This is presuming there are such things. No proof yet. Just a lot of blurry pictures, speculation, and wishful thinking. “Well, I feel since there are so many stars and stuff there must be advanced intelligent extraterrestrial life capable of intergalactic travel...”
Maybe they’re photosynthetic and do not need to eat.
No. Too stringy....
“If aliens had to survive on Earth, what exactly would they eat?”
Democrats then crap money and piss gasoline.
20 parsecs a day, on beans and hay.
I thought about saying it LOL 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!
Thank you!

This was a good send up of the original Shatner episode:

Be great if they ate liberals
A terrifying episode! But, she won! :)
The writers on that show were absolutely amazing - though I don’t know how many ‘story lines’ they used from other horror writers at the time.
My Mom LOVES a good horror story. There were many times in my youth that she would wake me up to ‘watch a scary movie with her’ because Dad wouldn’t and she didn’t want to watch it alone!
We watched ‘Helter Skelter’ together! Hello! Should you REALLY be exposing your pre-Teen to this? Also ‘Trilogy of Terror’ which was three short stories all staring Karen Black. OMG! And a whole host of others. Pretty sure Mom was an Insomniac back in the day, LOL!
I was in Junior High and Mom handed me a book saying, ‘You have GOT to read this!’ It was, ‘JAWS!’
And then I was STUPID enough to sneak into my very first MA-17 film - and it was also JAWS! I have hated open water ever since...
Dad LOVED ‘The Twilight Zone’ and ‘Star Trek.’ And in his later years, if it wasn’t on ‘The History Channel’ it wasn’t worth watching. ;)
The two astronauts crashed on a Martian desert.
One looks over a ridge; comes back to his buddy; too weak to talk.
Draws a series of Tees in the sand, before dying.
The other climbs, and sees, before also succumbing, laughing hysterically: A line of telephone poles.
They had looped back, and crashed in Death Valley.
But, in Reality, aren’t we all just ‘pets’ of a greater Being? LOL!
I remember that one.
How about the one with Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson? I think they were the last two people on Earth?
The camera loved them both and you could see that they would both be future Stars.
That was good! Thanks! :)
In the movies THEY LIVE and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, they eat whatever we do. In fact, without some technological help or direct observation of their behavior, you don’t know who is who…
Serving humans
Yes!
And also the ‘Martian’ who was the Soda Jerk in the remote cafe...
Push back his cap and he has THREE EYES! *SHUDDER*
OK - I’ll be wasting at least the next 24 hours on old ‘Twilight Zone’ episodes! :)
And don’t forget to re-read ALL of my Ray Bradbury books...
