Glad we left in late 1970.

Felt a big one at 8 years old near Ventura.

If everything west of the fault slid into the ocean, California would be crimson red MAGA country.

Of course, we'd only get two House seats so there's that.

maybe MamaEarth is just flexing her muscles to get rid of a lot of blight, physical and political?

seriously, though,
sometimes geologists say such faultline activity is good because it releases stress in small non-destructive mini-quakes...............and other times geologists say similar faultline activity is bad because it is “leading up to” THE BIG ONE

so I get confused

Very likely.
There has been huge movement everywhere on the ring of fire in the last 20 years except the LA to SF fault.
I am watching closely every week.

San Andreas Fault

Don't blame someone else for your own problems.

Note this study is not based on any actual measurement using some sort of sub-surface stress gauge.

It's based on a model using data of prior quakes and slip rates, which are generally known and actually measured (mostly).

I was going to go fishing next month. I’ll be much further south of those faults so I should be okay. D’oh.
