COVID-19 vaccine linked with lower risk of heart attack, stroke: Study

The COVID-19 vaccine lowered the risk of cardiovascular issues associated with the virus by around 40 percent, according to new research.

The study, which was published in JAMA Internal Medicine on Monday, studied the incidence of medical events like strokes and heart attacks in veterans immunized for COVID-19.

The study found that the vaccine decreased the risk of cardiovascular death associated with the virus by nearly 60 percent, the risk of heart attack by around 40 percent and the risk of stroke by just over 30 percent. Additionally, it decreased the risk of hospitalization for heart failure by around 40 percent, according to the study.

The researchers found that people over the age of 75 with the greatest reduction in risk for these health issues, as well as those with pre-existing health conditions. Other research supports these new findings.

Don't shoot the messenger!!! I just want to duly note there isn't the typical "could" or "might" weasel words I find with typical medical reporting. It's reported with full-on certainty that this will protect you.

First, I don't buy at face value these rounded off percentages. The study itself was supposedly done on veterans through the VA, only those in their 70s.

The comment area is from libs charging us to "go back to your horse dewormer" and deny all shots to Trump supporters. Honestly, I would be fine with that IF I'd BEEN GIVEN THE CHOICE!

What concerns me is that "studies" like this tend to get released just before the next public wave of mandates. Fauci's Fascists going "see? It's totally safe! Trust us!"

I would like to see the data. MDs are not good at data analysis. Saw one study claiming the RNA vaccine was safe for pregnant mothers. The data actually showed a 78% loss of pregnancy.

Among the obvious issues with this result is that cardiac issues alone are only a fraction of the important endpoints related to, well, health in general. The most important endpoint is all cause mortality and morbidity. What difference does it make if you are less likely to have a heart attack if you are much more likely to die, instead, from, say, pulmonary embolism?

Also, of course, this study was a retrospective population study, which introduces all sorts of confounding effects like the healthy vaccinee effect.

To date, the only large randomized double blinded prospective study that used all cause mortality (which is, after all, what we REALLY care about) showed a 24% increase in all cause mortality among those who got the Pfizer injection compared to placebo.

Ok, here’s one version of the data from that randomized double blinded study. This is a study that Pfizer was forced by the FDA to compile and by US court order to disclose:

Da math:
There were 21720 people in the injected group. Of those, 21 died by study termination. That’s a rate of .0966%.

There were 21728 people in the placebo group. 17 of those died. That’s a rate of .0728%.

The ratio of .0966 to .0728 rounds to 1.24. Said another way, the death rate by study termination was 24% higher in the injected group than in the placebo group.

The death numbers are kinda buried in the document, so I should mention that they are near the top of page 23.
