JD Vance Says Iran ‘Could’ Get Access to $300 Billion as Part of Trump Deal
Mediaite ^ | June 15, 2026 | Alex Griffing

Posted on 06/15/2026 9:35:10 AM PDT by Miami Rebel

Ed O’Keefe, CBS News’ senior White House and political correspondent, spoke with Vice President JD Vance on Monday morning and pushed him on whether or not Iran’s claim that it will have access to $300 billion for reconstruction from the Trump administration’s peace deal is accurate.

“Walk through some of this. The Iranians are saying that they’re gonna have access to a $300 billion reconstruction fund, true or false?” O’Keefe began.

“Well, Ed, that’s the sort of thing they could have access to, funded by the Gulf coast coalition, so long as they honor their end of the obligation. I think that one of the things you’re going to see, Ed—and people have to be skeptical of this—is that the hardliners in the Iranian system will overemphasize the benefits that Iran gets, while underemphasizing all the things that they have to concede and all the things they have to provide in order to get these benefits,” Vance replied, adding:

So we absolutely are open to the Gulf coast countries investing in the reconstruction of Iran, but only if Iran ends their nuclear program, ends their enriched stockpile of material, and is really open to an inspections and enforcement regime that gives the American people confidence they’re never gonna have a nuclear weapon. So I think the dance you’re gonna see, Ed, which is gonna be interesting, is the Iranian media, especially the hardline media, they’re gonna talk a lot about what they get without talking about what they give. It’s important for all of us to correct that record.

Vance was later on CNBC, where he was also pressed on a key sticking point in the negotiations, whether or not Iran will be able to put a toll on commercial vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Anchor Becky Quick asked Vance, “For now, they are saying that they will reopen the strait. The United States is saying it will take down its blockade at the same time, that there will be free passage, that no one will have to pay anything to go back and forth through this. The Iranians, I think, have suggested that this is just for the next 60 days. Do you get the sense that this is a more permanent situation, where the straits will be reopened even beyond that 60-day period?”

“Well, our expectation is that the strait is gonna be opened in a toll-free way for the long term, and that’s the sort of thing that we’re gonna figure out in these technical negotiations. You know that there are a lot of very important details to figure out, that we’re actually gonna sit at the table and discuss together and figure out a path forward on these details,” Vance replied, making clear the status of the Strait of Hormuz was still being finalized.

America needs leaders like Robert Harper these days. His response to a French shakedown attempt - “Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute”

“they’re gonna talk a lot about what they get without talking about what they give. It’s important for all of us to correct that record.”

That’s just because the Iranians have never held up any of their agreements in the past. So it’s all about what they ‘get’ and never give.

I know - it's all lies - you guys have INSIDE information none of the rest of us are privy to:

The $300 billion fund is structured as an international investment fund backed primarily by private-sector projects and Gulf nation contributions, rather than direct cash payments from the U.S. government. U.S. officials and President Trump have explicitly stated that the arrangement involves facilitating private investment in Iran's energy and real estate sectors, with the Gulf Coast coalition expected to provide significant funding contingent on Iran meeting specific obligations.

Private Sector: The framework envisions major U.S. oil and energy companies entering joint ventures and investing in Iran's infrastructure as part of the reconstruction program.

International Backing: The fund is described as an international mechanism where the U.S. helps coordinate economic development plans with allies, avoiding direct taxpayer-funded transfers.

Conditional Access: Vice President JD Vance noted that Iran would only gain access to these funds if they honor their end of the obligation, including commitments on nuclear programs and regional ceasefire terms.

i am much more interested in what will be done for the oppressed people of Iran - will hangings stop? despite the internet being back up, traffic on X has been quiet - when it was plentiful and vociferous in January and february. we also haven’t heard much from CP Pahlavi of late. i hope there is a strong underground becoming more active - and armed, off the radar.

Regardless of where it comes from, it is saving the IRGC’s bacon (no pun intended).

“It helps fund them and gives them 60 more days to delay, delay, delay.”

I’ve been a strong supporter of Trump and WANT to believe he was negotiating a tough deal with safeguards built in. It is looking more now like we surrendered to Iran.

I still hope I’m wrong, but Trump’s business dealing background isn’t a good match for dealing with psychopaths.

If a deal is made, the ONLY reason why I can think this was possible, is because we and the Israeli’s were targeting the Iranian leadership.

I do not believe those in charge in Iran really are to concerned about the plight of their own people.

They use them as human mine detectors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_key_to_paradise

They’ll throw thousands into prison and abuse the crap out of them, beating women: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Mahsa_Amini#Victim

They will execute or beat folks to death for what are offenses which amount to them asking for no more than some basic freedoms and human rights (kangaroo court - they didn’t support the regime so they were executed): https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/20/middleeast/tehran-sends-clear-warning-with-execution-of-protest-linked-men-analysts-say-latam-intl

The leaders of this regime have a low regard for life, even that of their own people. BUT, as usual, these folks are all about telling others to sacrifice themselves for the regime, but sure don’t like to be sacrificed themselves. By targeting them, by going after the leaders, that changed things, or so I suspect is the case.

I think there is 24 billion being held by Qatar And UAE for oil other countries bought from Iran.
As long as it is not us paying AND the world makes sure Iran doesn’t use it to rebuild military or nukes it is ok

The liberation of the Iranian people was always objective # 5 or 6 or 7.

I’ll let someone else calculate which of the higher-priority objectives have been accomplished.

>The more I hear, the worse it sounds.

I think the Dems taking control of Congress sounds much, much, much worse.

Trump finally gets geo-politics and is willing to let Iran think its won until we get past the mid-terms.

The alternative would be an impeached (and I believe convicted Trump) followed by a return to Obama's fast tracking Iran as the Middle East's superpower.

And the downside to the US is what?

Exactly! I don’t understand why some here cannot seem to grasp that. I guess they just want to bi@#% about Trump.
