POTTSVILLE, Pa. -- A Schuylkill County school show put on by kindergartners was stopped short on Wednesday, following an altercation in the audience, officials say. Now police say two Pottsville men are facing charges.
Parents took off from work and arrived Wednesday morning to watch their kindergarten students' end-of-the-year concert at John S. Clarke Elementary Center.
"It's what every parent dreams to go and check out, see their cuteness. It was awesome," said Jay Rose, a parent of one of the kindergarteners performing that day.
While the students took center stage during the school day, it was a handful of parents who ended up stealing the show.
Some spectators inside the Pottsville elementary school found themselves in the middle of a melee.
"It was sheer chaos," Danielle Sclafane said. "And I was like, what is going on?"
Sclafane, a Pottsville parent and aunt of one of the kindergarteners, says she was standing right by a mom who got out of her seat to film the kids, when a man asked her to move.
"He came up and he tapped her on the shoulder aggressively and was like, 'move out of my way' very aggressively," she said. "When the song was over, her child exited the stage along with the other children. And she walked behind me, got in the guy's face and used profanity and was like, 'you don't need to effing talk to me like that.'"
Several parents say it was a scary scene. Sclafane says she watched as punches were thrown.
"When I turned around, they were, like, all on top of each other," she said. "It was just big mauling almost. The principal was on the table, and it was sheer chaos."
Kindergartner Madden Rose says she had all the moves for her concert down pat.

I was 47 when I saw my daughter in kindergarten, though the formalities of adoption were not yet completed. She is about to produce my first grandson.
Babies happen.
My parents were Greatest Gen and were staunchly pro life. I was born in 1968 when my father, Lt. Jimbino, was 51 years old... so he was 56 when I was a kindergartener...
Babies happen. Should I have been ‘taken care of’ as my grandmother suggested?
They need to have closed graduations and show the ceremonies on-line. That way people can safely watch with no interruptions due to poor attendee manners. Pay a couple of professional photographers to take pictures and have parents pick up the kids later in batches to celebrate with their families.
Amen
Probably a grandkid.
This all happens because people “need” to videotape everything in their lives and that supersedes a person’s ability to actually see the event.
And then, because people are stupid…it turns into a tribal turf war.
Little Susie and Bobby are never going to watch that video. Mom and Dad will never watch that video. There is no reason to make that effort to record the “concert.”
Just sit down and enjoy the event as it happens.
Social Media has turned us into animals.
And your point is what? Exactly.
Some Freeper/Scholar questioned why some parents would be older. I pointed out that they happen.
Since so many freepers tend to be pro-life, I found it laughable when one rocket scientist took issue with the father’s age. Apparently we’re all supposed to conform to marriage/birth timelines. I got married and became a mom in my mid thirties.
Now, I may have accidentally responded to you instead of said rocket scientist. If so, I’m sorry.
my point was that babies don’t just happen ... people’s actions create them ...
True indeed!
The only “graduations” we had when I was growing up was High School....
Most Hispanics don’t think the party really begins until CareFlite shows up.
Exactly.
These unneeded kindergarten, 8th grade, etc., graduations are insane.
Just shows the educrats put on for propaganda to keep the funding coming.
Another clear indication of Civilization Collapse.
“ And I was like…”
I use to shame the daughter saying, ok, say that again without using the word LIKE.
It broke her of that stupid verbal filler word.
What about the gentle ladies?
Where did they think they were, Chuck E Cheese?
Was this like the traditional Hispanic wedding reception fist fight?
Low IQ, poor decision making skills, drugs, alcohol, all the above.
Hood or barrio it’s pretty much the same. Had it been chicago there would been a drive by. A few wounded and two or three dead....
Good parenting. Speech peppered with “like” and “you know” is very annoying and detracts from what the person is trying to say.
