A new study found that when you lose your virginity may impact how well you age later in life, including outcomes like frailty and misery in older adulthood.
“Our findings suggest that the timing of first sexual intercourse may be connected to aging through multiple psychological, behavioral and disease-related pathways,” first author Kaixian Wang said in a press release.
They found that those with genetic signals tied to earlier loss of virginity tended to have less favorable aging-related outcomes, including higher frailty and poorer longevity-related measures.

“Frailty index, miserableness, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) appeared to play especially important roles,” Wang said. In other words, if there is a link between earlier sexual experiences and worse aging, these four factors — physical weakness, poorer mental health, lung disease often associated with smoking and ADHD-related traits tied to impulsivity — appear to be the strongest factors behind it.

“”””In general, Gen Z — those born between 1997 and 2012 — is delaying sexual activity or skipping it altogether, with some experts calling it a “sex recession.”””””
At least they’ll live a few months longer, and as far as their memories going at that advanced age, well, what memories?
Agreed.
You can look at pages 8 and 9 of that study to see contributing factors, which includes homicides. Page 5 has a chart that compares race to life expectancy. Seems doubtful that American Indians and Alaska Natives are being murdered more than Blacks but Blacks appear to outlive that group.
That's a good question. I've seen previous studies that indicated promiscuity had a more damaging impact on health for woman. That's not to say it was healthy for men.
A real Wang would never say that.
It seems like this study tried to account for that.
The equipment is only half spun up.
Probably not. Physical exertion during sex is generally higher for men, who burn approximately twice as many calories as women during the act.
That’s correlation, not causation. As always, the media turns it into causation.
It would be a good idea to see how race correlates with early sex and early death. That would be informative.
Hmm, I don't think so, my good FRiend. Please consider this, from AI online...
"Black adults in the U.S. have higher rates of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and related deaths than white adults, with nearly 60% of Black adults aged 20 and older affected compared to about 49% of all U.S. adults. Heart disease death rates were 21% higher among Black adults than white adults in 2015, and Black adults are 35% more likely to die from major heart and blood vessel diseases."
Does the study consider those who lose their virginity late in life and have sex to make up for lost time?
Is there a meaning to it being while skydiving over the Mojave Desert in matching Bigfoot costumes?
Asking for a friend.
I was a decent lookin kid and the family babysitter thought so to!?? the rest is history!!
Rodney Dangerfield....
He had a memorable joke for every occasion.
“My wife likes to talk on the phone during sex. She calls me from her lover’s place.”
So what do you look like now? Asking for a friend.
So there’s a theory that earlier puberty is indicative of a faster metabolic rate and that in turn leads to a “shorter” lifespan because your biology is processing at a faster rate.
But just saying “oh you had sex early” = faster death doesn’t make any rational sense, other than statistical slop.
Alternatively, if it is true, it’s not necessarily because of biological processes but because having kids in your teens, especially in today’s society, leads to subpar career and economic growth.
“So there’s a theory that earlier puberty is indicative of a faster metabolic rate and that in turn leads to a “shorter” lifespan because your biology is processing at a faster rate.”
Not at all. The article clarifies that it is symptom, not a cause.
Sex is lonely at the top.....especially when there’s no one on the bottom. Rodney Dangerfield
