"I've got a lot of problems with you people and now you're going to hear about it!"

(Yes, it's television, not movies, but it needs to be said, especially since Festivus, although traditionally celebrated December 23rd, was celebrated at any time of the year by the originator, Daniel O'Keefe).

Do you like movies about gladiators?

Directed at someone who's got some goal other than work, questioning their sexual orientation as to a possible reason why they're standing there anyway. Basically, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Duck, or you're gonna be talkin' outta your ass!" - Sheriff Buford T. Justice

Or in office parlance, "What the hell were you thinking? Now it's going to be an out of control mess that's going to crash into you."

We sort of hit a stupid point in business over the past decade where “frontier justice” in the workplace was subordinated to mandated escalation of every potential instance of harassment or discrimination.

Now….it was bad before, from the stories I was told. On business trips, guys knocking on hotel doors of female colleagues wearing nothing. And more. And repeat offenders. And lest you think I’m one-sided, from what I’ve seen AND observed, women can dish out viciousness and “mean girl” behavior just as badly as guys hit on gals.

And in the case of HR, to be fair to them, they’re protecting the company against lawsuits. The “reasonable” course of action is “tell your boss or call the confidential hotline.” Finally, there are so many managers nowadays who don’t have the fortitude to handle this situation.

But I believe, in my heart, if a predator got kicked in the groin or if a mean girl got some back alley justice, the rest of the office would be thankful. They KNOW who are the baddies, and don’t need to conduct an investigation with interviews. They know Fred in accounting is a creep, and Freida in accounts payable is a cutthroat beyoch.

The workplace would thrive. And, to quote Monty Python, there’d be much rejoicing.

I say the scene was written by a reborn conservative even though he would refer to himself as a brain-dead liberal when he wrote it.

When I first saw the GGGR movie over 30 years ago, my first thought was that it had to written by a conservative. Back then, David Mamet nominally identified as a liberal, but I didn’t believe it. So no surprise on my part when he finally came out as a conservative.

Exactly. I think everyone was relieved that I poured coffee on the guy. Maybe frontier justice, but it was well-deserved. A line had been crossed.

Yes, women can be just as awful.

Back then, I don’t think there even was much of an HR to notify.

It is a phenomenal movie with a phenomenal cast.

I like Homicide as well though not as much.

I make a joke about Trump that is a reference to the movie that I am not sure everyone gets.

I say Trump is ABT which I define as always be trolling.
