There are a number of questions regarding the whole Odyssey saga. One is how somebody as smart as Christopher Nolan got entangled with woke nonsense in the first place. (And yes, Nolan is smart – anybody who could take a storyline as convoluted as that of Memento and make it not only comprehensible but enthralling to the average audience is no slouch when it comes to intellect.) Another is why he felt compelled to pick up wokism just as it’s collapsing in the culture at large. It’s May 1945 in the Wachenbunker and everybody else is fleeing – but here comes Nolan racing through the ruins.
Black Athena: The Afroasiatic Roots of Classical Civilization was a 1987 book (there were two other volumes, but nobody paid any attention to them) by British academic Martin Bernal. Written under the impetus of political correctness, the '80s version of wokism, Black Athena argued that the bulk of Greek culture of the classic period was derived from Africa, specifically from Egypt, but by extension from sub-Saharan Africa. (Bernal knew full well that the Egyptians weren’t black, but that made no difference.)
Bernal was the son of the legendary British physicist J.D. Bernal, who among other things was to first to suggest building massive orbital colonies, decades before Gerard O’Neill revived the idea in the 1970s. He was also a fanatic communist, which he passed on to his offspring.
Is this beginning to come together?

The Wakanda lady doesn’t even merit a single milihelen* of hotness.
* A milihelen is the unit of physical beauty necessary to launch a single ship. Helen of Troy merited a full helen, or 1,000 milihelens.
I think Brad Pitt should play Malcolm X.
And they are rich enough to do it this way.
Momento was incomprehensible. so there’s that.
Yes, the “diversity” requirements to be eligible for a Best Picture Oscar are extensive and difficult to achieve without completely embracing DEI.

Based on the standards to be nominated, a Best Picture nomination almost certainly means a movie will be DEI garbage.
She rated a whole bunch of NEGATIVE millihelens ... a negative helen is physical ugliness sufficient to sink a thousand ships.
There are beautiful black women, of course, but she is far from them.
The movie will bomb at the box office and he will win an Oscar.
And Lupita Nyong'o will get Best Actress (hard to believe Hollywood still acknowledges any difference between male and female) for playing a white Greek woman so convincingly.
This is an “own goal” of the worst kind. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for 2 years. Now? You couldn’t pay me to go see it.
They better make it a comedy, like “Springtime For Hitler”, or else it’s cooked.
Hollywood hates Nolan. Don’t be silly
“put a chick in it and make her gay and lame”
Hollywood has followed this formula for the last few years and suffered massive box office flops. The black Helen will be blamed. However I wouldn’t go see because Matt Damon is playing Odysseus.
There's a fallacy here: Nolan already won Oscars for Oppenheimer.
If he had the chance would Christopher Nolan do a remake with Brian Gosling and Sidney Sweeney? (Would the real star be the favellas and Christ on Sugarloaf??0
Richard Poe used to plug his book "Black Spark, White Fire" (used to lead his profile page here), and has posted on FR as recently as 2021.
